How scary is dead space?

As the title says, how scary is dead space? Has anyone not been able to finish it? The game looks like a lot of fun but I'm not sure I want to play a game that is really scary. Thanks for your input

It depends on the player really. Myself i'm hardly scared by videogames but dead space have its ''woah'' moment. Scary or not its a great game that you should get.

Its creepy scary. Not really jumpy scary cause you expect things to jump out at you but the sound effects had me kinda creeped out...

It's not SCARY its just creepy.. like some odd parts in there similar to bioshock creepy (if you've played it) its a really great game though. If you want a scary game get SH: HOMECOMING.

not scary at all except for the wtf ending

its really moody. it kinda reminded me of the silent hill series. that its all dark n all u have is ur flashlight and u hear noises n stuff all over the place.

It depends on how easily you get scared. For me, it wasn't too scary.

I didn't find it to be that scary, though I'll admit there were a few moments in the game that scared me a little. :oops:

It's medium scary. It has its moments.

it's scary than most horror games nowadays (looks over to Resident Evil 5)

I'm a total coward when it comes to scary games and this game is just slightly scary so far at least I'm on chapter 4. Most of the time you will know when something will happen but I was always tensed up when playing it. Although a lot of the scares are obvious you stare down a corridor and think to yourself "When I turn there will be an enemy" but it still makes me jump especially when using an elevator their scare always freaks me out.

And yea, I jumped more than a few times, even on my second playthrough. Its so atmospheric, the story is great, and the final boss is awesome.

Definatley buy it, you wont regret it

I thought it was atmospheric and creepy but not scary. It overall depends on the person though, I don't really get scared in games anymore.

Dead Space made me jump more times than any movie I've seen and I've seen a lot(granted I was playing on a HDTV with a good sourround sound stereo system with the volume on high). It's definately the scariest and creepies game I've played and is so far my personal favorite game on a next gen system.

yea the sound of the game is just awesome, and the final boss ( tho rather easy save for the invert part ) was just epic

I can't say it's "scary".

Just makes you jump:

Was walking down a hallway, lights flicker, and to my suprise an enemy appears and charges towards me, lights flicker, it's behind me!

When you've cut of something's legs, you expect it to think "Hmmm, mabye if I stay down I won't get pwned" but instead knaws at your ankles.

Mainly things just jumping out at you. My gf and I played it and we only jumped if something we thought was dead tried to give Clarke a lovebite.

Dead Space was a bit dissapointing cause i expected a very scary game. But it wasn't scary at all...

It's more so eerie than scary...

lolwut. then you should played FATAL FRAME 2 and FATAL FRAME 3, or PENUMBRA : BLACK PLAGUE. those three games define the true HORROR.

I mean, whats scarier? running/hiding from a zombie thats hunting you and you have nothing to defent yourself with, or blowing its head of at first sight with modern hi-tech weapons??
