How the heck do you throw a grenade back at the enemy in CoD 4?!!

This is so frustrating! How do you throw the grenade back? It says press RB to throw grenade back and I press it but end up just throwing a grenade of my own and getting killed by TWO GRENADES!!

Is there a trick to this?

You have to make sure you're still standing over the grenade before you press the button... what I'm guessing is happening is that you're running over it and you're already too far away to grab it by the time you press RB.Funkyhamster

That's the ONLY time I'm doing it. If I see the "press RB to throw grenade back" I'm pressing RB and I ALWAYS end up just throwing my own instead of picking up that one. If I don't see that I just run away and get away from hte grenade.

stand near said instrument of doom, press and hold and releaseRB when icon appears throw grenade back. Word to the wise. most grenades have already been cooked off for a few seconds before they are thrown at you in MP so you're better off running away. herbie12282

It's a waste of a grenade if you don't cook it first. I always do and it's funny to watch people try to pick it up and throw it away before it explodes.
