I'm buying the 360 in two days and I just want to know how to get the three year warranty. I'll be buying it from best buy probably and is the receit enough to get the system replaced if I get the rrod?

receipt means nothing. use it as toilet paper if u so wish. M$ uses the serial for rrod and other warranty related issues, so dont worry.

If you're going to Best Buy, I'd strongly reccomend the 40$ 2 year warranty from Best Buy as well. If ANYTHING happens to your Xbox, you go there and switch it out on the spot, and they give you a new one no questions asked. 40$ is lame I know, but so is waiting 1-3 weeks on your Xbox from Microsoft. The time it takes to Ship/Repair/Return :(

Microsofts 3 year warranty automatically comes with your Xbox. You just need the Serial Number.

If you but a new 360 it comes with a registration card in the box. Fill in your details along with the serial number of the xbox and return it to MS to register your console and start the automatic warranty. There will also be options to buy a 3 year general warranty to cover all faults.

As standard you get a one year warranty against all faults, and a 3 year warranty specifically against RROD failure. After your first year if it fails for anything other than RROD you are not covered.

I say forget the warranty from best buy.... you can get one from square trade for cheaper. They are rated #1.
