I was hoping someone on here might have the knowledge to be able to help me out. I know my way around computers but when it comes to routers, they're kidn out of my league.

Basically I called Linksys and they refer me to microsoft, and when I call microsoft, they refer me to linksys, so it's a big game they play where they say it's the other sides responsibility. I have a Linksys router and I want to set the NAT type to open so I can have more availability to play games, my brother says he has a lot of problems getting onto Black Ops and actually just gave up on it altogether.

Can someone help me out with this? Like I said I'm not completely lost when it comes to routers, but I'm definitely not the most knowledgeable person either with them. The stuff I've found online gets pretty technical and hard to understand.

Thanks guys.

Use the guide on portforward, select your router model and click on the Xbox360Live. They have step by step instructions there. :)

Don't just focus on the router to get an open NAT type. If you have UPnP turned on on your router that's usually all that needs to be done (usually, not always). But you can also check if the problem is the modem. Some modems may need to set to bridge mode in order for you to get an open NAT type. Just look up your modem online and search on how to bridge it. Hopefully this helps you, good luck.

Where would this be? I'm not sure what you're referring to.

How is your router connected to your modem?

Do you know anything about your modem (it may also be trying to act as a router and be causing a double NAT situation)? Maybe post info on the router and the modem.
