How to use my free month of XBOX LIVE GOLD?

I just go my xbox 360 a week ago. I made an online and offline account. I don't know how to activate my free month of xbox live gold. Can anyone help?

if u made it on xbox.com then youll have to recover the gamertag from ur 360 and im not sure if you still get the free 1 month, just play it safe and make it on the 360 and if you already made your gamertag then its too bad youll have to choose another name

its because when you make it on xbox.com they treat it as something thats existed for a long time since you gotta reciver it, make another on 360
