i don't understand how peolple can still be entertained by the same old same old turned based unispirde rpg games...
there are some great rpg's coming, but this one it totally uninspired. like the graphics though.

how about every FPS game ever made ... ever
-Point at thing
-Hit shoot button
- Throw gernade every once and a while
- repeast for every FPS since doom
Ill take the RPG's over that any day.
I am a big fan of the art direction and animation, the story is cliche and the combat repetitive. I will still check it out... but am more excited about other titles... Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, GTA IV...

yes but in a FPS you kill the person (or thing) relatively quickly and in an interesting manner where as games like JRPG's you have to wait until a unit attacks you.... now compared to an FPS if some one is shooting at you, then unless ur stupid you take cover and shoot back not stand there and look pretty waiting your turn.
i was looking forward to this game, and when playing the demo i'm still looking forward to this one.
butLost Odyssey is more appealing to me.ofcourse we all knew....

That's a great point, which leads me why did final fantasy do so well. Isn't it pretty much the same thing. I think all those jrpgs are all the same, repeatative etc.

well, ff brings something extra to the stage, but yeahy... turned based combat is ofeten very much the same....
but i guess it's something many people like. shooters are very much the same too...
Hmm, I am curious whether or not the reactions towards Blue Dragon are a product of the user base of the 360. The original Xbox had very few RPG's, and if I remember correctly, no traditional Japanese style, turn based ones. I would imagine that if this becomes the trend, many people within the 360 player base not liking these games, that they would no longer be made for the platform.Velric
I hope this isn't a trend. Personally, I love turn-based RPGs. I like planning every little thing out, deciding how much to charge my attack, etc. It is less action oriented and more strategy oriented (or it can be if you put the effort into it). I much prefer this style over action RPGs.
Needless to say, I'm buying this game the day it comes out. Together with Bioshock, next month will cost me some money!
Maybe I'm in the minority on this one, but I always liked RPGs for the story much more than the combat. I am more of a fan of a good plot twist (KOTOR 1) than an innovative combat system (Enchanted Arms).
I have honestly never enjoyed the combat element of any RPG I have ever played, I just trudge through the muck to get to the meaty portions of the story.
