Didn't really get that impressed by it. Seems like combat would get boring pretty quick and didn't offer anything all that innovative.

I don't really like JRPGs, too much repetition for me. Nice music though.

Really loved the combat system, charging up attacks and trying to time them for the right moments was a really cool twist... so yeah, I thought the gameplay was great. But I kind of hate Toriyama's art style (same damn thing over and over again, the bad guy looked like a purple version of Piccolo), and that voice acting... oh my god, my ears were bleeding. Though I think the final game will have the Japanese voice acting as well, so switching to that might help.

I am a big fan of the art direction and animation, the story is cliche and the combat repetitive. I will still check it out... but am more excited about other titles... Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, GTA IV...

Nice graphics, nice music, horrible everything else. The one RPG I'm buying this year is Lost Odyssey.

Looks awesome, and I think I might have it preordered... (need to dig out my receipts). Anyways, I really liked the combat (yes, it's repetitive, but so isn't JRPG combat systems in general), the graphics were amazing, and the voice acting was actually fairly good. I'm definately looking forward to it. Too bad it comes out the day after college starts :(.

yes but in a FPS you kill the person (or thing) relatively quickly and in an interesting manner where as games like JRPG's you have to wait until a unit attacks you.... now compared to an FPS if some one is shooting at you, then unless ur stupid you take cover and shoot back not stand there and look pretty waiting your turn.

I'm halfway through downloading it... I'm into the anime/manga thing, so I'm looking forward to checking it out.

That's a great point, which leads me why did final fantasy do so well. Isn't it pretty much the same thing. I think all those jrpgs are all the same, repeatative etc.

Not very excited about it. The graphics are beautiful, I think, but turn-based rpgs just do not do it for me any longer.

Hmm, I am curious whether or not the reactions towards Blue Dragon are a product of the user base of the 360. The original Xbox had very few RPG's, and if I remember correctly, no traditional Japanese style, turn based ones. I would imagine that if this becomes the trend, many people within the 360 player base not liking these games, that they would no longer be made for the platform.

I hope this isn't a trend. Personally, I love turn-based RPGs. I like planning every little thing out, deciding how much to charge my attack, etc. It is less action oriented and more strategy oriented (or it can be if you put the effort into it). I much prefer this style over action RPGs.

Needless to say, I'm buying this game the day it comes out. Together with Bioshock, next month will cost me some money!

I use to be huge on Jrpg's, not so much anymore, but I'll always have time to play an interesting one. Blue Dragon is not an interesting one. Isn't this the game that's supposedly on like, multiple disk? How the hell did thta work out? Probably full of HD CG graphics that could EASILY be done, especially considering the downright, kiddie, basic, un-detailed graphical style of the game.

I really enjoyed the demo. I couldn't see any of the flaws others are talking about but eveyone expect different things. It's a different type of game that the 360 has been lacking, so it's good to have it. I'll prolly buy this game maybe not right away though. Too many other big games are coming out around the same time. But we'll see.

Maybe I'm in the minority on this one, but I always liked RPGs for the story much more than the combat. I am more of a fan of a good plot twist (KOTOR 1) than an innovative combat system (Enchanted Arms).

I have honestly never enjoyed the combat element of any RPG I have ever played, I just trudge through the muck to get to the meaty portions of the story.
