How well does the 360 network adaptor work?

I was thinking of buying a network adaptor for my new 360 elite I am getting this weekend. Can someone tell me how well it works and if it will it work going from my living room directly above to the second floor to my computer room where I have a D-Link 4300 gaming router.

DO you use it through any walls? what distance is it roughly away from your router?
