How would you rate the games of the Orange Box?

I know the orange box, as a compilation, is a great deal. It has some of the best game ever assembled and conveniently placed in one package. It scored a 9.5 on Gamespot and has been received with the same praise by numerous critics.

I would like to know, what rating you would give each game.

For me:

Half-Life 2 (9.5)
The game was a major success when it came out and still is. The physics, gameplay, story, characters and atmosphere are all of the finest ever in a video game.

Half-Life 2: Episode 1(7.5)
Still follows the Half-Life formula, but doesn't introduce anything new. Also, it doesn't progress the story that much, which would have made it a lot better.

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 (9.0)
Brings together the shining moments of the Half-Life 2 universe and gets a graphical enhancement along the way. The story progresses in a big way and so do the chararcters. It offers new environments to fight in and has more cinematic 'moments' too.

Portal (9.0)
A new twist on the puzzle genre! With complex, yet simple gameplay, this game will be one for the ages. Not to mention, the game actually has a story and hilarious, in it's own right. It is a bit short, but I expected that much.

Team Fortress 2 (7.5)
I'm a bit stuck on this one. I had fun while it lasted, but theres not much longevity to this game. I do like the sense of teamwork and how every cl@ss is extremely balanced, but it doesn't have the same addictive quality as other multiplayer games.

im replaying through hl2 in my spare time, then im going through ep 1 and 2. so far

hl2: 9.5

portal: 8.5

team fortress: 8.0

HL2 = 9.8

HL2 Episode 1 = 8.5

HL2 Episode 2 = 9.5

Portal = 9.0

Team Fortress 2 = 8.5

Half Life 2- 8. I love the story but with out-dated graphics its not all it could be.

Half Life 2 Episode 1- 7.5 I love the continuation but I really wish it was longer and again, out-dated graphics.

Half Life 2 Episode 2- 8.5 More story and better graphics and and ending that leaves me wanting more

Portal- 6, good game but I want it to be longer

Team Fortress 2- 2, with only 6 maps and gametypes locked to the maps, makes me say WTF valve. If I want MP, Ill play Halo 3 and Rainbow Six Vegas

Overall- 9, hell of a deal and with 3 great games and 1 good game makes it worth getting.

Portal - 9.5 really funny but too short

TF2 - 8.5 The lag sucks and Valve isn't doing much to fix it

I really wish Portal was a stand alone game was so fun and addicting and the humor was great. However I seem to be the only person who can not get into Half life 2

I love Half Life 1 but I hate 2 with all these puzzles with bricks and im not sure why people love the characters maybe it was designed for men to like the characters. I know alot say they really felt emotions for the main girl. So maybe its more of a gender thing maybe when it comes to the story.

But I do know the game is worthy of a purchase i know many who like it and im one of the very few it seems who do not. So I would still recommend others to buy the game all around great deal.

I'm only about 2/3 of the way finished with Half Life 2 but I would give it a 10. I can't find anything wrong with the game. I couldn't care less that the graphics are 3 or 4 years old.

Portal was awesome, I'd give it a 10 but it screws up when trying to get some of the achievements. 9.5

I haven't played any of the Half-life three games

Portal 9.0 - I love it but the game is too short + The bits where there are mechanics made me feel sick and I couldn't do anything but sleep!)

Team Fortress 2 8.0 - The game is pretty good but lack of maps and games are making it bad, I usually play it for an hour then I switch to another game because its repetitive

i would defintely have to agree with you, one of the first ive seen who noticed that too

when hl1 is compared to hl2, hl2 is just average. its got alrite mechanics good physics and graphics for its time but it felt like it was missing a story and it was just linear, i felt i had to drag myself through it

the only things that intrest me in orange box are portals and tf2, i dont wont to have to drag myself through half-life 2 again

I kind of felt that same way when I played it for the original Xbox, but playing it a second time makes me appreciate it much more than I used too. It's the same with movies.

Friggin awesome gameplay

Half Life 2: 9.4 great game, awesome atmospere (its the first time i played this one)

Half Life 2 ep1: 8 not as good as HL2 but still goo, too bad its too short

Half Life 2 ep2: 8.3 great expansion but stil, too short

Portal: 9.1 innovative, unique gameplay, both simple and complex

TF2: 8.4 great multiplayer, well balanced characters, no story and not as addicting like some other titles

(im looking at all these games as individual retail products, with HL2 eps 1+2 together)

Glad im not the only one, Ya i enjoy puzzles but more along the first one where it made sense blown up underground lab so lots of re working wires and crawling under and over things.

Makes sense I just hated how im zipping on the water to come to a pulley where you put bricks one side of the see saw, I mean really who makes a bloodly gate then have a giant see saw in front of it. Not once but many many many times. It gets just so mehish.

But ya if Portal and TF2 were released alone I would buy it. Though I wish TF2 was more polished the old one still runs circles around the new one. I was really hoping for the same wow factor I get still playing TF1 on my computer.

I've not played Episodes 1 & 2 yet but as for the other games:

Half Life 2: 8.5 - This game is very polished and immersive. The gameplay is generally very well done, but some of the vehicle sections can drag and there are often frustrating moments where you get lost within an area.
Also, because this is a port of an ageing PC game, the graphics aren't quite up to 360 standards, even though the character models are generally superb. Also, this is a small point but some of the gameplay mechanics seem a bit strange on the 360, as they were obviously designed for the PC.
Finally, HL 2 has a pretty interesting story, but you only get told little chunks at a time.

Portal: 7.5 - I don't usually like puzzle games, but this one surprised me. It is very original and definately mind-bending - definately not a game to play when you're tired! However, this game is pretty short and because there's no action, it has limited appeal for me. It's not a game I could play huge amounts of at a time.

Team Fortress 2: 7.5 - This game has the potential to be awesome. The cl@sses are balanced, the maps and modes work very well and it has an emphasis on team-work. However, connection difficulties and lag still plague this game, even though it has gotten better. It's so annoying being in an intense game, only to suddenly see "Connection To Host Lost".

Halfe Life 2 10.0

Half Life Episode 1 8.5

Half Life Episode 2 9.5

Portal 9.5

Team Fortress 2 7.0
