How'd You Get Your Xbox?

I was wondering how many people bought their 360s new versus used, and what level of risk you took when buying your system. If you personally didn't buy it (if it was a gift), pick the choice appropriate to whoever actually purchased the system.

When I say "verified" in my poll there, I mean that you knew with a reasonable degree of certainty that the system you were getting was as-advertised. If I buy a used 360 from a friend, I can go over to his house and see if works right. If I'm buying a used box online, I don't know if it's good until I've already paid for it.

Anybody get screwed over buying on eBay?

i was following this rainbow, and bumped into a unicorn he took me to a place where the sun always shines and the grass is always green. he led me to a waterfall, which spilled water as clear as crystals, and told me there was a secret entrance behind the waterfall. a bit suspicious but didn't want to regret not giving it ago, i walked throught the waterfall and too my surprise the unicorn was telling the truth.

behind the waterfall was a white podium, with 4 green lights on it. upon the podium was an xbox 360, i picked up the 360, and turned to make my way out the waterfall. the earth shook, then stopped, and the 4 green lights on the podium turned to 3 red lights, the waterfall stopped spilling, the lake dried, the grass withered and the sun lost its shine. the secret passage started to shake, and the roof started to collapse, i ran out of the waterfall and noticed the unicorn had lost its horn, i got on regardless and started to gallop from the eerie scene.

finally making back home, i put the xbox 360 on the desk, hoped for the best when i turned it on, and the television turned from TV to AV and my eyes were graced with the dashboard, i just needed a controller. so i went to town, and got one.

Got mine shortly after launch from walmart.com

Just kept checking the site until one of the bundles popped up and ordered that sucker real quick. I was lucky to get one since they kept selling out everytime more bundles showed up. Got it within a few days of ordering.

It came from a friend of mine. When we got it though it red ringed after we plugged it in. :( Hence now having a refurb. ;)

Anyway I got mine 3 months ago from Sam's club @ the "dreamy" price of 520 bucks...

Brand New.
I don't completely trust used [No offense to anyone who has purchased a used one :)]

I got mine from gamestop the first month it came out. I just sent my third 360 back to microsoft, for the thirs RROD. I am on my third ps3, and will now be on my 4th 360. My wii, drop it, kick it, throw it and it still works perfect.

Also, my 360, ps3, wii, psp, and ps2 were all bought for me by my girlfriend, the last system I bought myself was the original playstation 1.

Well, I first bought mine from Wal-Mart, and about a year later I took it apart and customized it, then another year later it RRoD. And I was out of a console for awhile, and my buddy wanted to play some games with me, so he hooked me up with another console. :)

I bought mine brand new from a high street store. I was surprised with the poll results to see just how many people have been buying brand new store only. I thought there would have been more people buying preowned. I must say the stories of RROD I'd heard before getting my 360 did influence my decision to buy new from a store, and I got the extended warranty. It made sense to at the time because the console was still fairly expensive, but now not such a great investment as the cost of a new Arcade unit has fallen so much

well, i got mine as a christmas present 2 years ago, from walmart.

1 year later, rrod came in, got it back month later. (brand new, but upset because i recieved COD 4 5 days after christmas

new years morning. Sucked Crap.

That xbox still working today. ( knocking on wood)

My original console was brand new from a brick and mortar store. However, the system my boys have is a used console, which has now been replaced by a refurb. :(MsCortana
