Before you tell me to Google it, I have. I can't find a definitive release date for Hulu Plus on Xbox Live. On the Hulu site it just says "Coming Soon" to Xbox 360. The only info I've found is early 2011. I know it will be available on Live eventually, but I'm wondering if any other info that anyone has heard has slipped through the cracks. Does anyone have any concrete info on when it will be available? I'm trying to get rid of cable TV and just use my 360 for everything. I'm already paying for Xbox Live and Netflix. ESPN is already on Live. I'll be willing to pay the $7.99 for Hulu Plus especially when it's available on Live. I'll just get an HD antenna for broadcast TV and I'll be good. I'm paying $90+ for cable TV alone. That's not including my internet. It's ridiculous.

Sorry guy, I don't have the date you were looking for. But I do agree with your point about cable. In this day and age between Hulu, Netflix, and the internet it's just not worth it any more.

When I break it down per month: Xbox Live subscription (renewed for 2 years for $80 a couple months back) = $3.33 Netflix = $9.99 Hulu Plus = $7.99 Monthly internet only bill around $50 $71.31 per month That's still less than what I pay for Cable TV alone.

Haha! My family just did everything you mentioned in your OP, Cable really isn't worth it, my parents were paying $110 a month for it. I am wondering about the Hulu+ thing too, then again, I can always get a Roku box.

Cool. Hopefully they give you a date rather than a "soon".

I know someone that works for an ISP and he said soon you'll have to pay extra on your internet bill to stream stuff like Netflix, Hulu, and anything that is direct competition with Cable TV. I'm not too sure how soon but he said it is definitely coming.

But which ISP? Is that something that will be industry wide or just for that particular company?

How are they gonna charge you for what you use your internet for? That would be messed up.

I won't metion the ISP directly but I will tell you they also provide cable TV. I heard that Internet as a whole will be charging an al la carte type service, so if you want to stream you pay one price, and to stream HD it is another price. Like I said as of now it is just hearsay. I personaly think that by the time that happens Wireless ISP's like Verizon, AT&T ect. will be cheap enough that the big ISP's will have a hard time.

I've been reading on how some ISPs are going to limit amount of data you can download per month and then charge per GB. Some may already do that. So the more you stream, the more you pay. Also, the ISP's may charge the providers themselves (Netflix, Hulu, Google, Apple) for content. That would probably lead to higher subscription costs. The concern is how much power the ISP's will have to charge those data suppliers.

Yeah, I don't see this happening, at least not in the way you put it. I mean, I don't see how they could possibly pinpoint out certain websites (in this case Netflix and Hulu) and charge more for access to them, especially since people already pay for these services.

They do already have bandwidth limits, though.

Here's a business article about how the battle between the ISPs and the data providers like Netflix is playing out. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings Responds to Whitney Tilson: Cover Your Short Position. Now.

Not sure about the release date for xbox 360 hulu, but thought id let you know what I did. Had the same plan, so we just went ahead and cancelled our cable subcription (right around $90 as well), and bought a roku box. They range from 50-100 dollars, but its a one time fee, so its definitely cheaper than paying a few more months at $90.Roku boxes also get netflix and other apps, so when its finally released on 360, ill just use my roku for a second room. Hope that helps
