Me and my friend were taking turns playing GTA4. We were getting tired of it, so I got up and walked towards the Xbox, ready to switch discs. Then, out of nowhere, the RED RING came onto my xbox. I screamed - literally - and did the first thing my reflexes allowed me to. My body proceeded to fling intself towards the wall and unplugged the Xbox. My friend had also seen it. We sat there for ten minutes, contemplating our options. Then we decided I was going to plug it back in and turn it back on - so i did. And guess what? It worked fine. That was a couple months ago and its worked fine ever since.

You can choose if you want to believe me or not, and if you dont I dont blame you. I really can't see any logic in what happened. But it did happen, and I know that for a fact, and so does my friend, the witness. So, when you get the RROD, do what I did - lunge at the outlet and unplug that thing IMMEDIATELY.

i have heard a similiar story such as these were the main problem of the system getting the rrod is from where you plug in your console. such as don't plug it into a surge protector or plug it into a good power outlet or something. the power brick itself is a surge protector.

Mine went red once so i freaked, ripped out the harddrive, took my roommates harddrive from his xbox, put it in mine, and turned it on. When it came on it was fine. When i took it out and put mine back in it was still fine :P

sorta the same thing happened to me, I got the RROD, second one 2 years(got it replaced for free, they actually sent me 2 back :)]. Anyway i was so rattled walked around swearing for the next twenty minutes, calmed down called Xbox, arranged for them to send me the box to get it fixed. Week later got the box to ship it in. Accidently turned on my 360 as i was paking it up, worked fine, worked for 4 days then RROD agian so sent it in.

i don't think it works like that because the red rings don't come when u want them to. the red rings are random they can come anytime when playing.

my first 360 broke because of unplugging the 360 out of the wall. another fact is that i was at my friends house and we had it on like 24 hours. i played a little he played a little, we watched a movie. the next morning he played a game and then it red ringed.

the red rings do come up when there is a loose connection with the power bar. I've had it happen... all you do is plug it back in lol.

If i don't play mine for a while it seems to get RROD but after restarting it a couple times it works fine and continues to work with no RROD as long as i play it at least once every couple days. It's probably just dust :?

yeah gotten similar one when I didn't fully 'click' the power plug into the back of the 360 ....weird thing is it worked for a day like that, got all ready to pack it up when it ringed, touched the cord on the back while I'm taking off the hard-drive and hear 'click'....felt like such a tool lol.

Since this is about the RRoD, it belongs in the broken stickied thread.
