My name is Alfonso. (not a fanboy, I own a Wii, Playstation 2,3, and Original XBOX.)

I am considering getting one of the very fine looking systems.

But I need more information on them such as: online gameplay (how is it?), failure rate (not a fanboy, just want to know for purchasing assurance.)

Great games for it, and coming soon.

Pretty much an owners perspective of the different features, gameplay, and everything else about it.

I hope to have sometype of feedback.

Thanks, Alfonso.

online is amazing. imo much better then psn. im not sure wat the failure rate is but if u get a newer 360 then it should have the falcon chip which makes the system run cooler. as for games halo 3 and gears of war are great games. i no u have a ps3 but cod4, r6v, and assassins creed are great (if u dont have them for ps3 already.

Online gameplay overall is pretty good. You meet alot of cool people, but also alot of idiotic people. But for the most part, the players are half-decent and if they insult you or bother you, you can mute/report them. Failure rate...I believe is somewhere around 10-15%.

I own a 360, and I am not disappointed. I've had many hours of entertainment with my 360 and I hope you make the purchase. You won't regret it.

Sounds good so far. The only games I have for my ps3 as of now are Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band. I am waiting to see if I get a 360 for GTA IV. But yeah keep up the positivity. I'm likin' what I hear so far... I meant what I've read so far. LQTM (laughing quietly to myself).

Online is great. Its well worth the 60bucks. THe failure rate is about %16 (supposevely. Personally I had my first one for over a year.) Just make sure you get a GOOD warranty. PS3 and wiiis about %5. Online provides you will quick easy access to friends.. sending messages. Chatting. And it is all very clean and organized. Great games include Mass effect Cod4 Halo 3 Gears of war. I hear condemned is good if your into scary games. Dark sector RBSV2, Battlefield bad company are coming out soon. The controller is very comfotable and the batter life is good. You can download addons to your games. See newly released trailers. Download demos. Check out other peoples gamer cards ext...

Well worth it

Other than the red ring of death, I think it is the best console on the market for the money. More hardware power than the wii, but still still cheaper than the PS3. At this point too I believe that the 360 has a very wide and solid backing of great games.

xbox 360 is the best, xbox live is the best thing since sliced bread. if you want a 360 for online play get games like halo, cod4, gears, saints row, upcoming gta 4 and i usually like to play a football game too. but if your not into that you can still get games like oblivion and assasins creed. get one!

You can not go wrong with an xbox 360

ive had one for almost a year.... yes its been in for repaired 3 times but they pay for all the shipping and they've sent me some free games and it really was an easy process to get it fixed. Its not something you really need to worry too much about tho it is a pain. But the games are awesome. Most of the best ps3 games area also out on xbox in my opinion, and the xbox live is much, MUCH better. With current awsome exclusives like forza, halo, bioshock, gears and mass effect! and upcoming games like ninja gaiden 2. It really has the best line up of games by far. Also for good measure xbox arcade can be pretty sweet at times too.

had my 360 for almost 2 years and just got the red rings. I'm not worried about it cause i can get a new tomorrow. If i were you, i would buy a 360. It has great games. I recommend Mass Effect, Bioshock, COD4, and of course Gears of war. The 360 has great online play, sometimes you'll get laggy games but just join a new one. 360 graphics are great and if you buy a 360, you should buy it from a store like best buy( where i got mine) and buy a 2 year warrenty which you can extend at any time. this way you don't have to go throw all the shippiing process with micosoft, just go to best buy and pick up a new one.

Ive had my 360 since March 2006 and have enjoyed it since. I however had to send it back due to the god awful rings of death, but fortunately it was overall painless save one month without playing it. The games are good, but lately I haven't cared much for the exclusives, but that's just my expectations. If you get one now there will be a great lineup coming in 2008 like Ninja Gaiden 2, Fable 2, Halo wars (maybe) and of course GTA IV with exclusive content for 360. Ive had mixed results with live due to the people that Ive encountered. My advice, stick to player matches and not ranked. More jerks play on ranked matches and play like their life is on the line. Achievements are addictive even if you don't care for them at first, trust me on that one since I was skeptical at first. Microsoft has added so many more things on marketplace since I first got it and I only expect much more to come. The only drawback if you get a 360 is that a new system is rumored to come by 2010, but that's evolution of videogames. Games to get are the Tom Clancy games (Ghost Recon and Vegas) for sure if you have not already. Don't get Gears of War unless you play it coop or offline because the online has turned into a shotgun frenzy. The rest I'll leave to everyone else. Make sure you get the system with a HARDDRIVE!!!!

Another question. Which works better 360 connected directly to modem or using the wireless network adapter. Is there more lag wireless or is there no difference. The router is only in the room next to mine, but it seems like a pain to run a cord to my sisters room where the router is. Opinions from people with both options possibly?

Thanks, Alfonso.

ALF0NS0A

i find wired more reliable. i don't have a the wireless adapter, but i must admit that i wouldn't like doing some extra configuration. plus i always find wireless connections a bit less reliable, but since i have never used the wireless adapter i can't really say much. if you ever manage to find a way to get it wired without having any annoyances with the set up, then i'd go for that. you'd have to pay a lot for the wireless adapter too.

I have ran my xbox360 directly from the modem and have used a wreless network adapter. There is very little to no difference between the two. The wireless runs really well. I am running on the wireless network adapter.

Even though it's a pain to run a cord from your sister's room to your XBox, it doesn't cost you anything. But if you really don't want to mess around with all the cords and such, then the wireless network adapter is probably a good choice for you. It's pretty simple to set up as well. After a few menu selections, the installation is pretty much automatic. You pretty much just snap it on in the back, enter your networks' password and you're off. Plus you don't have to worry about running so many cords back and forth. I hope this helps.

hey al. the online gameplay is the best on the 360 (since it has more users than psn). Failure rate is over-reported on here a nd under-reported by M$. I think the failure rate should be quite low now. but its still higher than the PS3 i bet.

great games for it are Ace Combat 6, ProjectGotham Racing, Forza motorsports 2, Dead Rising, Gears of War. ALOT of shooters, but a few non-shooters too.

goodluck

Xbox Live -
Better than PSN, only because of the features. Being able to browse your friends list anytime during any game, while sending messages, invites, changing your settings, icons, chatting, joing parties, comparing achievements and played games, aaaand seeing what game they are playing at what level at what section.

Failure Rate -
Its up to discussion... some people say 16% and 33%... as long as you can find a 360 with a newer chipset, you shouldnt have to worry about this.

Games -
Its all on what you like, but some good ones to try are Condemned: Criminal Origins, Sports games, Halo 3, Devil May Cry 4, Mass Effect, The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, Crackdown, Forza 2, and Gears of War... there's some good games on XBL Arcade like Castlevania SotN, Geometry Wars, and Metal Slug 3, and then there's games that I'm looking forward to like Dynasty Warriors 6, Condemened 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Bully, Alan Wake, and GTA IV,

Try to forget the shortcoming and build quality and just focus on the games and achievement score. Be prepared to have to 'buy' a lot of stuff if you want the full blown experience, Wifi adapter costs £50, Online costs £40, play and charge kit £15, Wireless headset £25, camera etc etc. So just be aware of these possible extras that you wouldn't had to have paid before....

Online is great.

Failure rate isn't as high as it seems and if you're console does fail MS will repair it for free. Doesn't take too long either.

There are tons of GREAT games. Just to name a few.

Gears of War.

Bioshock.

Dead Rising.

Crackdown.

Mass Effect.

With more to come.

Hope that helps. :D

Great games are to long to list. Xbox live has much better comunication between players then PSN (just bringing up because he says he has a ps3) But the failer rate is what kills it. Im on my 4th and I think that I might have to send this one in soon cause its acting up. But your going too get a new one w/ the falcon so you should be good on that. In my opion its damn worth the $450 for an elite or the $350 for the Pro. Do not get the core!!

You guys have been a major help in my decisions of getting a 360, but now I have an offer from my uncle. He said he will sell me his for $200 with two controllers, 2 headsets. I checked it out and there are no problems with it. The thing is with this though is that the warranty is up, and I don't want to be stuck with a broken 360 if I get the Dreaded R.R.O.D. Is there an dare I say "UNETHICAL" way of getting a new one without a warranty if it does die? Any suggestions?

Thanks, Alfonso.

Go for it, the warranty has been extended just for the RROD. Go to xbox.com and check for yourself.

Thanks to everyone for their input on this forum. I have decided that I will buy an Xbox 360, but I need an answer for my previous question since I am leaning more towards buying it from my cousin.

Thanks, Alfonso.

Normally, If I were to buy a gaming system, I'd rather take on that is new. I don't mind buying a used copy of games, but when it comes to systems, I'd rather it be brand new.

But $200 for an XBox 360 is really a great deal. In addition, you get 2 controllers and 2 headsets. I think that's probably a good deal. Although it is used, I don't think you'll find a better deal elsewhere. I would probably take him up on the offer if you already haven't.

Well I own a 360 Elite (with Falcon chip) and I have an 80 gig PS3. I must say where one excels the other fails and where the other excels the other fails. It's just worth it to have both systems.... PERIOD. Im sure if you get a 360 today that you're 99% gonna get one with the Falcon chip. I got mine in december and I have it. I haven't had it freeze on me once... nor RROD once. I've left it on over night several times and it hasn't crapped out on me. Plus you have a 3 year RROD warranty with Microsoft anyway so you're cool. Get the 360... even though you have a PS3. You will miss out on several exclusives that will be on 360 only AND last but not least... REMEMBER, there are several multi-platform games that look superior on 360 and look crappy on PS3 (don't know why) but you don't have to worry about things like that when you have both systems. You can just choose which game you want to get on which system. Online gaming as of now... 360 owns PS3.... however when HOME comes out... things may get a little competitive.... BUT here again, if you have BOTH systems who cares about competitiveness?

alright so get online and buy Gears of war, Halo 3, call of duty 4 and then you should hit the ground running.

And try to spring for Bioshock, assassins creed, and mass effect during your wait for GTA4

those games are helping me during this long miserable wait too;)

DO NOT GET AN HD DVD ADD ON TO.

also you should get ninja gaiden 2, too human, halo wars, fable 2 and frontlines fuel of war also when they come out.

Most anticipted games by xbox 360 owners right now are Banjo thriee and gears of war 2, both should come out in the holidays

Ok Alfonso you are making a good choice here.

This is console for adults. The games are very much adult oriented. I would suggest getting COD4, Mass effect, oblivion, VEGAS 2 (next month). LIVE is an incredible service well worth the monthly fee. I would suggest you buy a 360 Elite. The 120 gb hard drive is well worth the extra money. I have played a PS3 and i have a few complaints the controllers are not anywhere near as comfortable as 360s and online play is much smoother. So I would definetly suggest you pick up the 360.

I just love gears :D

best online ever (my opinion)

also I have never liked wireless so I will go for wired all the way :D you get less lag and better connection with it ;)

The online is amazing

The graphics are sweet

Don't worry about failure, no release systems are still available for sale so don't worry about RROD
