I really am NOT trolling but I must ask what is the big deal about Gears of War. It seems that people have been talking about how big of a title it is for the xbox 360 (namely G4... ALL the time) and I have it and I actually regret buying it. The hype of the game got me to buy it but really I am just so dissapointed with it. I have played online with it some also, and frankly I do not see the reason it is so popular in that aspect either. The only real selling point for the game is the "a button context movement" and the chainsaw rifle which is not very fun after a few times.

Does anyone else have any other thoughts?

and this is why you should never buy a game on hype alone.

Listen, I'm right with you. I didn't enjoy the game as much as the "hype" said I should have. But the "big deal" is that it is a wildly popular game that sold millions.

HOW DARE YOU QUESTION GEARS!! I did the same thing regarding the MP and my topic got locked for trolling...
Personally i found Co-op to be easily the best part, playing with a friend screaming like a retard was fun as hell.
However, IN MY OPINION, small maps and 4 guns make for boring deathmatch/team deathmatch play.
I don't understand how people could play MP for more than a week.

Well personally one of the big deals about it are the graphics. I trust we can agree the graphics are simply jaw dropping. Something truly worthy of being called "next-gen." It's this kind of game you want to show off to friends who may not have an XBox 360 to prove how awesome the console is (or can be).

Other than that though, I'll admit, the game is kind of shallow in some areas. For one it's repetitive as hell. Second, it can be downright frustrating to beat certain parts, especially the last level, although I guess one could argue last levels are supposed to be frustrating (I personally don't agree). Other than that, I can see what you're saying. It might not have lived up to the hype, but I hope it lived up to your time and money. If it did, then mission accomplished for the developers.

yeah for $70 (includes the $5 disc warranty thing in case it gets scratched) it was not worth the money. The online was SO boring when I tried it out the few times I did (wasted good 2 day Live passes on it... grr) and the single player was ok. The game was not anywhere close to one of my favorite games. Even within the first couple of days the single player bored me to the point where I would only play one chapter a day i.e. not one ACT one Chapter (smaller parts of the Acts to refresh your memory)

Yea, graphics wise, this game is amazing. In terms of gameplay, I found it boring.

It's just fun and awsome. Alot of people enjoy it.

And if you don't like it even after beating it and playing rounds of the multiplaer, maybe it's just not for you. And if it isn't, thats fine.
