STOP IT WITH THE "Halo3 or CoD4 takes no skill" RANTS!

That's all I see in this damn forum. These two subjects and how their styles of multiplayer take "no skill". They are two eintirely different games that have different goals for the player.

CoD4 focuses on ranking up and owning your enemies. There is no competition involved, but that's not a bad thing! It's fun as hell and can keep you addicted, even when you reach your tenth prestiege! Sure, you may get tons of kills, but that doesn't mean the game has no skill. You must understand that you're not the only one getting racking up kills during your playthrough. Tons of people are, and you're a part of their kill ratios. You get a lots of kills, but you die a lot. Simple as that, and it's not a bad thing.

Halo3 takes skill, however. Not by its gameplay standpoint, but by it's matchmaking standpoint. The game can be very competitive because of how accurate the matchmaking system is. You will get players at a rank or level that's near yours, and most of the time it shows the player or team's skill. You will have an accurate challenge at times on where your team can score "24" while the opposite enemies win with a score of "25".

It's frustrating, sure. But boy, does that make the game feel like a sport! Also, there are many weapons in the maps of Halo3 that take tons of mastering. Not by the use of the weapons, but their placements. You just don't run forward and wish for the best, you must plan what area you're going to travel that contains the right weapons at the right time, but it's not very easy.

Now you're probably ranting like a fanboy by how I said Halo3 takes more skill. First of all, multiplayer doesn't need skill to be fun. It's all about killing your enemies and enjoying it. Gaming doesn't need to be a freaking sport! It's there to entertain ourselves! I mean, I play CoD4 more then Halo3, but I still love halo3 by the forge feature that it contains and how well developed the matchmaking is when it comes to skill level. They're both great games!

So stop fighting and continue playing what you want to play!

Switch the 2 games and your on to something there. I agree with the TS tho. Each takes skill. Run and Gun in itself is a skill. Having precise aim takes practice, learning the maps and making judgements on the best spots takes awhile, knowing when to charge and when to fall back. Take somebody who's played a considerable amount against someone who is relatively new and you'll see a difference in skill.
