I've flamed on 360 in the past and I am not apologizing for this but I just bought one a week ago and so far it's been working great. I got one of the recently manufactured 360s and while the disc drive is loud as hell, the machine hasn't been getting to hot in fact it runs cool in some areas where I place my hands I feel cold air. I may be speaking to soon but I am one of the lucky ones to get a fully functioning 360. Xbox Live is great by the way and has so much goodies on it. I'm a happy customer if you can tell. I think the past two generations of gaming have been great for gamers thanks to the competition and innovation brought to us by Sony, MS and Nintendo. It's a great time to be a gamer.
My friends crapped out recently, but then again he treats his consoles like **** and leaves them on for hours. I've had mine for the same time and have had no problem.

I have only turned mine off a couple times since I got it from launch. I leave mine running 24x7, usually in the Guide menu on Media Center (for watching/DVRing TV)
well u only had one for a week, so thats nothing to be proud of. my very first one(the one I own now) has lasted me almost four months so yeah....and I have never known anyone at school or whom I know that had a busted 360...only heard about it on the internet.so it could happen
mine has gotten the red lights just the other day, the second time, both times while playing oblivion...now i cant play ghost recon 2 until i get it back :(
The reason that it seems that there are so many problems with the 360 is that anyone and everyone who has problems complains about it....it is the way it has been with all products in the past.......the squeeky wheel gets the grease...........
most people that post about the 360 are people who are wanting to rant and make themselves feel better cause their console quit working. Therefore giving the impression that lots of 360 are breaking down but you cant look at it that way. There have been over 10 mill 360 sold so if everyone's was breaking down there would be a recall issued which has not happened. I know a few people with launch 360 that work fine today.

Not that many are broken, it's just that people who have broken ones complain enough that it seems like there are more broken 360's than working ones. And you get a lot of people claiming to be on their 3rd, 4th, 5th, or even 6th 360 which is just bull. It might happen to one super-unlucky guy, but the number of people claiming they've gotten several broken 360's basically prove it's bogus.
I've had my 360 since launch day, that's..... almost one year and four months and I've had mine on for countless hours, many at 16+ hour gaming sessions (of hardcore gaming) and have never had any problems, besides the occasional freeze. I love this machine and I can't wait for a larger HDD.

Indeed but you didnt realise what I was saying, why is it only the 360 forum that gets flooded with these and has its own stickfy for broken machines, two have broke on me with faulty graphics chips, and a friend of mine cant get his 360 to stay on without constantly crashing from disk read errors and a guy on my friends list a few weeks ago had to get his replaced...........The 360 is far from normal in terms of faulty hardware.

Well, we had the same stickys with the PS2, Xbox 1 and now the PS3 at the playstation.com forum has the same sticky with numerous problems.
I am on my 4th actually, no fooling around. And this one also makes the slight buzzing sound my last one made. It also doesn't have a grounding rod for the plug that goes into the wall/charge protector...weird.
I had a system from last june...mine finally stopped working the other week. Well, not exactly stop working, just it in a way overheated, and cut the video from the screen, so in game you could hear everything going on, just no picture. But I sent it in and was very happy with MS, because I have never purchased a warranty but they made it free of charge. I'm happy with the 360 and will be glad to finally have it back to play some Condemned and Gears.
My system has worked fine for a year and 4 months. The only problem I ever had is that every single game I ever popped into my system would freeze about 30 minutes into the game, but it would never freeze again... weird, but whatever :)
Oh also, once I got pissed at my game, so I threw a pillow at my console... the console fell over, and somehow the cd inside the system got destroyed... but I geuss that was my fault and not the 360's.

Of course there is one at the PS3 official forum, thats because its the official site, do you see people on Gamespot complaining...................no, and the one on the PS2 forums is for disk read errors not for broken machines, and the only sticky on the Xbox forum to do with something fauly is for a power cord which got recalled, please if you are going to argue with me dont talk nonsense.
Just because it's working now doesn't mean it will keep on working. You should always get the extended warranty.Lobster_Ear
Yup.. definatly get an extended IN STORE warrenty ... I already made the mistake of not doing that (because at the launch of hte 360 i didnt have enough to get a premium some games and also a extended warranty).... but then my 360 broke down 2 months after the 1 year microsoft warranty ended ):
ive had mine for about 8 weeks while i was playing test drive it said unreadable disk then when i reset it it said it at the start of the game then all of my games where saying (plz put this disk in a xbox 360 console to play this game) i was like omg............
ps.ive been waiting for an e-mail from microsoft for about 3weeks now they said they have sent it they still whont listern to me and keep saying they sent it
