Okay so I just bought a game today and I went to put it in my 360. The system makes the usual noises and says "Reading" on the screen, however after a few seconds of that it just goes back to "open tray" even though the disk is in it. I tried other disks and get the same result. I had this problem about a week ago and just shut down the system for a min and tried again and it worked fine till now. Any advise on what I should do?

this has been happening to my 360 for a couple months now. Some games work first try but a few like Halo Wars and GeOW2 wont read until i open and close disk tray 3-4 times. i've just gotten used to it. My box has already been replaced after my first one got the RROD and this is what they gave me in return.

Maybe the games not sitting properly in the tray, do you have the system vertical or horizontal?

Try putting another game or movie, and if it does the same thing, then I would call Microsoft. Sometimes it justdoesn't read the info on the disc and repeatedly putting the same informationin the xbox that itdoesn't register it to begin with it willdo the same thing. My roomates have had this problem, but due to their short temper, they got pissed about it.

I've had the same problem for a while also. I got Skate 2 and after playing it for a couple of days, I just left it in the system so I wouldn't have to take it out and put it back in frequently. When I went to turn my Xbox on, it said open tray when the game was already in. I opened it and closed it and then it worked fine. I wonder why this has been happening to people lately. My only advise is that you call the Xbox support people and tell them what's up. If they make you pay for repairs, then that's what you gotta do.
