I do not recommend Prototype

only as a rental. the lasting value of the game is slim..and while it's fun to play..it just doesn't live up to expectations(mine) The game doesn't have good grahpics at all, several of the missions are extremely frustrating..and the boss fights are just not a good experience at all. Im going to finish up this game and trade it in and maybe pick up Red Faction (which has good single player AND multiplayer) or a few used games. This game doesn't deserve an 8.5..it deserves more of a 7 or 7.5.

I've gotten 30 hours out of the game so far and still continue. I recommend it, much like most gamers and reviewers do.

I'd go for a rental too. I started this game on normal and I can't beat it (well at least I got tired of it). It's actually extremely hard, and sometimes almost annoying.

This. Ive taken a break form it and have about 25 hours in it. Its awesome. Loads of fun running around the city. too bad radical isnt supporting it after release. BTW, its been confirmed the cheat menu was only for the Body surf code given with registering for the Rdical Newsletter. LAMe!

Thanks for the heads up, that sounds just what I thought about Wolverine Origins which I just finished and really liked, Now I certainly will get Prototype

Edit: Just saw Redfaction and mehh, nothing compares to being a kinda uroboros infected superhuman (Is like you're playing GTA IV being Wesker LOL)

It's quite a bit of fun for the first 8 hours it takes to finish the story. But the story is convoluted near the end, the graphics are horrific and there's little replay value once you finish the story, unless you want to go back and pick up a couple achievements. It does get repetitive after a while and the web of intrigue clips sometimes put me into epileptic shock. I agree with OP: recommended for a rent, but has little lasting value outside the single player story to warrant a purchase. Some people I know really enjoy it and would disagree with me, but thats just my opinion for anyone looking to pick up a copy.

I found this game very very fun. I played it six hours straight last night. =P

I say RFG and Prototype are both great buys. I know they're 2 games that'll never leave my collection.

yah but apparently im "whining" about this game. I didnt even bash it bad, im just saying it's not good enough value for $60 IMO when its possible u can beat it in a rental.

that's why im waiting how ever long it takes for their to be a price drop. I'll eventually get this game just not anytime soon.

I'm having quite a bit of fun with it and am glad I bought it. To me it's one of those pick up and play I dont have a lot of time but am angry and want to kill and destroy crap, and find some glowing orbs while I do it, kind of games.

well in this topic everyone are giving their own opinions about prototype & i will give mine too...that is why forum was made. it's for discussing the game..

for me this game is fun & personally i recommend this game to buy...but it's just my opinion ok...so my suggestion is if u have a friends who own this game, then play it at your friend's house...after that it will be your decision, you want to buy it, or you want to just rent it..

my opinion is this game is fun eventhough the graphic is'nt good...but graphic is not everything...eventough the graphic is bad but as long as the gameplay is fun i will buy it

o yeah, another reason i prefer red faction is that in prototype the environment hardly ever changes, the game is like a big prison. it really gets old fast

Having completed the game I thought the only frustrating mission for me was the helicopter one. Yes the game could have been better by having a better story though the game isn't terrible and it's pretty fun running up walls and consuming people. :P

prototype is really fun but its pretty short definitly worth a rent

I don't know how people don't enjoy this game, I've had a blast playing this with my girlfriend since it was released and it's the only game I've managed to get her to play. The game is just pure fun compared with GTA which loooked great, but quickly became boring...AdmiralNels

I absolutely agree. I've logged 30 plus hours and I still have a ton of stuff to do. It's pure fun, it may not have the polish or depth of multiplayer that some games have but it's nailed the fun factor one hundred percent! I love the feeling of power they give you, and the skill progression is perfect. I trade in a lot of games once I'm finished them, I won't be trading in Prototype.
