I have been recently getting the two red rings on 360, which means it has been overheating.

I tried to remedy this problem today by purchasing a fan today, which is currently attached to my 360.

Yet for some reason it still gives me the two red rings.

I also find it strangethat thetwo red ringshave been appearing in a pattern, they only usually reveal them selves when im playing onlinecooperative campaign for World at War, it always occurs right after all players are ready and the campaign level begins.

Imreally dissapointed...

I want to continue in my 360 gaming experience, but I always seem to have obstacles whichprevent that. The 360 has been one of my favorite console's throught my life, I wish to never end my constant gaming for it, its just really hard to enjoy an amazing console with specific problems that really buden its true peak.

Can you guys give me any advice to solve such a dreadful problem?

If it helps the situation...

My current360 was sent to microsoft a while back for repair/replacement console because it obtained the 3 Red Rings of Death, I am also still under my current warrenty.

Mod edit - Please use the official Broken 360 thread for questions like these.

Quite unlucky, mine has no problems still. The only thing you can do is call Microsoft for support, maybe they should give you a new one.

I don't think there is a way to solve the problem. It's under MS control. You will probably have to send it in again. Hopefully you will get a Jasper in return. :(

A more reliable "Version" of the 360, the Jasper.

Mines currently being repaired at a center for the third time after experiencing the new black screen, hopefully they will get the hint and just send me back a new system.

I am at least happy it isn't a total loss. My warranty does not end until this November.

I am thankful of the responses given in this topic.

True I am unlucky at the moment, but I will probably get overthis loss when im playing a new/repaired console.

I guess I shouldn't really complain, I have been through worse moments for the 360 (3 Red Rings of Death)

The only thing I wonder right now is if Microsoft will takemy consoleholding the2 reds rings insted of the regular 3 red rings, can any one answer this for me?

One more question...

Once my warranty ends ( the month of November) what current options will I have? Can I purchase a new warranty for the console I have then? if so, how much will it cost?

You might want to take that fan off of it, all additional fans etc siphon the 360's power supply. This leaves the 360 with a sparatic power level for essential functions.

Take the fan off and use an exterior fan. Also put your power brick in a place so there's a substantial amount of space under it. It's probably the brick that is overheating.

Thanks for the advice.

I am using the Nkyo intercooler TS.

It still locks on to the back of the 360, but it doesn't get its source of power from the 360's power supply, it is powered by an AC sleek adaptor.

I had the Jasper since it came out and it is awesome. It does not overheat at all no matter how long you use it. Once I played for 6 hrs straight and it still not even warm to touch. I also have not had any problems with freezing issues ever since. Amazing!

could probably just get a new 360 with your warranty....From what i've heard the red rings won't go away, the fan is more to prevent it from ever happening. Which in your case it's already happened. I could be wrong however.

I don't remember the price but i think it's between 20 and 30 $. If you want the extended warranty you must call microsoft before the end of you're actual warranty that's very important because if you don't you will not be able to buy one. Just wait for you're console to come back from repair center and call Microsoft back.

BTW this prob is covered under the 1 year not the 3, so if you have had it longer then a year a additional fee may need to be paid because this is not the RROD, and it's not E74, if they do try to force you to pay, just junk the thing for parts on Ebay and buy a arcade, they are more inlikely to have the new Jasper chipset.

Oh... and let me edit in my 2 cents about those intercooler fans, I hear they actually speed up the whole RROD prob, I don't know how true this is, but some of my buds that used this told me it actually spins the fan backwards, but anyways I find a actual fan by the TV to be more prudent especially with summer approaching, or a small air conditioning unit, thats what I use, and my 360 is barely running luke warm.

Knowledge is power...

Thank you for such information.

You are right when it comesto payan additionalfee for my current problem.

This Jasper chip sounds really beneficial.

I really gained alot of information that can help pursue my 360 gaming hobbies.

I hear a small vacuum helps more, why void your warranty when you can suck up all the dust, using can air and not opening up just blows the dust deeper.

No problamo, I would also like to suggest in the future you dust off your console frequently and stick it in a more ventilated area, I find on the top of my entertainment center to be the best place for it, also try to install your top played or currently played games to your HDD, it should reduce wear and tear, make your console run cooler, and give the console all the air it needs to run to help you to avoid getting the RROD anytime soon.

Absolutely do NOT open your 360 and clean it, it will void the warrantee and you can screw up your box even more if you dont know what you're doing. Best thing to do is try and get a jasper.. i've had 11... 11.. xbox 360's since it's launch and the average life of each 360 was 3 months. They would either rrod or would stop reading discs. Sometimes i'd send my 360 in to get repaired and the one the sent back wouldnt work when i hooked it up.. and by the way if they replace your console they don't send you a new console.. they send you a refurbed console or one that they think they refurbished but really didnt so you get a broke 360 back. Long story short my latest 360 failed and i was sick of microsofts terrible customer service so i decided i'd trade it in (keeping my hard drive) and get a brand new xbox. I got 100 dollars trade in and spent 100 dollars to get a brand new jasper arcade 360. That was in november and it's still working like new, this is the longest i've had an xbox 360 without it breaking and i'm finally enjoying playing games without thinking OH NO HAVE I BEEN PLAYING FOR TOO LONG?! WILL THE XBOX READ A DISC THE NEXT TIME I TURN IT ON?!! Get a jasper model 360 if you're sick of constantly having broken 360's.
