it doesnt update automatically. it updates at certain hours in the day. it may arrive at 4pm but the update goes through at 6. so its a 2hr wait to find out when its arrived. atleast thats what they told me when i called in about the same crap.
don't worry bro. my xbox was delivered at their service center at about 11, and xbox.com didn't update their website or whatever until that night (which they always do, so if you're looking for updates check at night.) and then when they sent it back they sent it on a friday and didn't update my status until monday.
