Im one of the bigest fans of Bioshock and I have the first games special edition. This new one is not what i hoped for. It is the game, 3 small posters, artbook, music cd and a record for 100 dollars. (you can stop reading here if you want.) They had a serious forum created on their website asking what people wanted for the special edition. Did they really come to the conclusion that people wanted a record? The artbook i understand because that is one of the most used items in special editions. I don't know, last time they had a big daddy statue and so this time i was hoping that they would have something like that. Also last time the special edition was 70 dollars. I would be pretty happy if this new special edition wasnt 100 dollars. I just started browsing and there may be a less special edition for 70 but im not going to get that unless it has something different.

My girlfriend was happy about the vinyl record but we still have a turntable and were talking about the sound of them and the effects that wireless devices can have on them but that's rambling lol. I think they are trying to capitalize on the steam punk cycle pop couture is going through. all I hope is that no other game will take this step, seeing it for 100$ is just too much for any game its not like the darn thing cures ailments ha-ha.

yeah, really, 100 dollars is just way too much. how would they honestly come to the conclusion that the vast majority of people would want a vinyl record? most people cant even be bothered to buy a cd nowadays so to think those people would have a turntable? its really a small legion of people who still have them and listen to them. i was really looking forward to this, hoping to add another big daddy/sister, something, to my collection. sure, the art book and posters are cool, standard spec.ed. fare, but the rest is just meh, and for 30 bucks MORE than the last spec.ed. in my book, this is just fail on 2ks part. ill be getting the reg. edition... perhaps ill get the me2 spec.ed.

I think that price is actually pretty good considering it comes with a Vinyl Record (which could possibly be a double LP too). I own a turntable and still listen to records frequently (as do an increasing amount of people), but I was still kinda surprised that they decided to include a Vinyl with the special edition considering I know not of many BioShock fans that happen to be into Vinyl. I think it has to more about the time period of the game being set in the 50's or 60's (not really a fan of BioShock so correct me on this if I am wrong).

Can we suppose that the vinyl was not intended to be played but hung on a wall for show? Since the music ingame is from 1940-50 I find the vinyl a great item to send in a special edition box.

Well, one thing that bioshock really does well is make you feel at home in the 1950s i believe it is. I was just hoping for something more bulky, im sure anyone that has a record player or has any love for them at all will be very happy.
