I was playing Mass Effect and have about 12 and half hours in it and the message pops up, The disc is dirty, and I take it out and the disc is virtually spotless, I tried it 3 more times and keep getting the same message. Im not sure if its my Xbox or game. I have a launch console and have had the problem with it scratching the ring around my disc on 3 games before but this is not the problem this time, Im not sure what to do. Now Im getting all teary eyed.

Relax solider. There is no need to get teary.

That the disk and with a clean cloth gently rub the disk. Then try it in your console again.

Now do as I suggest and if it still doesn't work... well pull yourself together!

I'm kidding of course. If it still doesn't work I don't know how to fix it and I'm sorry.

restart your console. Try completely unplugging it and restarting it if that doesn't work.

Uh, you don't cry over video games. That's stupid.

Just try cleaning alot, there's not much you can do. If you have warranty, you can get another one. But other than that, you're screwed.

Sometime it'll do this when the system starts to overheat. Make sure your power brick isn't close to the 360 itself and allow maximum breathing room!

So far still no luck, I guess I am going to make a trip to game crazy and see if they can clean my already clean game. And if that doesnt work, well then I guess its back to crying. By the way, I really did have tears. Thanks anyway, If GC cant fix it I will probably back on whinning again so forgive me, I have my fingers crossed so pray for me.

It means that the disc has dirty content on it, because there's dirty hot steamy alien 'seckz' on there!

alright so I'm just kidding, get a clean cloth, DO NOT put water on it, and clean from the center of the disc outward, in a circular motion. That's the propper way to clean a disc.

Again, crying for scratched disks is not cool.

But can't you just buy another one? Or rent it for a week, beat it and then hand it in?

this happens to me sometimes. i figured it was because the brick ws not getting enough air, so i run a fan to circulate the air around it and it hasnt failed me sinnce, try it.

I also use compressed air and blow out the drive.

Try to keep your system as clean as possible. I leave mine in a storage container with a locked lid when not in use.

I hope your 360 doesnt start to scratch games, as my last 360 did that when it was having disc tray and lens problems.

I have the same problem with my hitman and rainbow six discs. After playing for around 10 minutes an error comes up saying that the disc is dirty. I've tried cleaning it a fair few times and there is almost nothing wrong with the disc that i can see.
I thought overheating might be an issue, but then wouldn't the same error message come up for all my games?

It's the console. Try other games. You will see that they will all come up with disc-dirty errors after a few hours. Send it in. Get a replacement.

my old xbox had that error sometimes, but very rarely. If it happens every time, then the disc might just be garbage. I would rent the game to be sure. and also you could try the game in a friend's xbox360 if possible. I know all of my discs are perfect, so when i see that error I know its not an actual issue with dirt on the disc.
