I feel terrible...

My buddy told me that the BioShock demo was up on Live. Honestly, BioShock was not on the radar for me for games to buy. He was saying it was getting CRAZY reviews. Like Ocarina of Time level stuff.

So I downloaded it, played it...and what? I just dont get it. I feel terrible because all the talk this game is getting, and I just don't see it. What am I missing?

soak in the atmosphere and incredible presentation. This game has a very unique look and feel...it might not be for everyone but I can't wait to play it. I find it particular satisfying to shock someone and then beat them with the wrench:)

BioShock is about the atmosphere mainly. The gameplay itself isn't all that perfect as people say it is. And I know, I have the game and I'm a good deal in. It's definitely a great game and I like it allot. But you don't draw 'perfect' rating fun out of it.Israelli

I think it's mainly the atmosphere and ability to customize stuff. The games graphics from a technical standpoint are good, but not fantastic and not as crazy as people make it out to be. As mainly a PC gamer, I've played much better graphics technically. A lot of people mistake ambiance and art direction, as graphics in the technical sense. With that, the demo seems to really draw one in, especially if you are into that kind of mood.

And yeah, BioShock is all about the atmosphere and customazation. You can upgrade weapons which makes them look very different, unlock genes for extra skills and powers, upgrade and buy new plasmids... hell, you can even scrounge items from the field and create your own ammo or tools from them.

You are correct. The games production quallity makes it so you don't noticed that the graphics from a technical standpoint are not as hot as they seem. The games looks so good from an atmosphere standpoint that you don't notice. It's like WoW. When that game first came out, the graphics were already several years outdated, but the atmosphere and art direction were superb so you didn't notice at first. Also, I don't think the game looks better than GoW graphically or atmospherically. It is at the same level though.

What kind of games do you like? Bioshock is a game for people who love great storys, great production value, great atmosphere. Its like if you go to a wine tasting and know nothing of wines.. You aren't going to be impressed with anything except the fruity wines that taste like hawaiian punch, because you're used to hawaiian punch.

I like all sorts of games. Just I dunno. I was expecting something else I suppose? However I'm sure it's harsh to judge a game on a freaking demo alone...just its a demo. Its supposed to showcase the game. And from what I played I wasn't impressed.

Last game I got that I loved about "atmosphere" was Shadow of the Collossus.

Well read some reviews of the game, watch some videos, because the demo only gives you taste of what to expect.

I don't like shooters (maybe because I'm bad at them), but I really liked the demo of Bioshock. The setting is so original, I just wish it was a little bit more like Condemned. More melee, less shooting, less enemies and more scary stuff. The plasmids are great though and they make the gameplay more interesting. TheFlush

Oh man do I love Condemned. I haven't played the Bioshock demo yet because my 360 is in Texas. Anyway I'm still buying Bioshock (I pre-ordered it) because the whole game just looks amazing. To me it looks like they took the combat from Condemned which is awesome. The rest of the game just looks AMAZING.

I can understand .I'm waiting to get the game but the stores don't have it.I'm gonna have to wait for weeks... Gotta get money and gotta see if the game is in stock. Once I find it in stores, I'm buying it and gonna play it on my friend's XBOX 360 (I don't have a 360) . Poor guy won't be able to buy the game so thats why I'm buying for him.
