Send it it. I had a little bit of a bad expereince with M$ but nothing with the system. It was just stupid customer service people. The vast majority of people send it in and have a new one within a week or so. Dont worry, if your under warrenty nothing bad can happen.
Happened to me this weekend. My launch console finally gave out, and why you ask? I went and rented king kong to get some easy points for the old spice challenge. after an hour of playing this game, i got the 3 red lights... and continued to get the red lights. Called MS, and have a box on the way. They better not switch my premium console with a core and this better not happen to me again.
Send it in. I am in the process of getting mine fixed from the wonderful red Christmas Wreath of Death. UPS ships a box 3 day to you, you ship it 3 day back to them and 2-4 days for repair and 3 day back to you. Thats if your 360 is under the 365 day warranty or extended warranty. Otherwise cough up a credit card and pay up the wazoo for it.
So my experience has been good so far. My 360 died FEB. 14th, box arrived FEB. 19th (weekends don't count) My 360 was shipped back FEB. 19th (Today) to some place way down by Mexico in Texas and now I am waiting and Tracking the package with UPS.
