1. How do they suck at specifically rating 360 games? Given the lack of recent exclusives, I don't see any glaring mistakes made by the ESRB. Any examples?
2. Why does it matter? Most kids' parents don't check ESRB ratings, and even if they do, most people have a friend or know someone who will buy it for them.
Did you post this because your mom wouldn't let you buy a game?
I mean seriously, ESRB makes you aware of the content in the game and is VERY generous in the U.S. compared to other countries.
Buddy, here's the deal:
You wouldn't be saying this if you were an adult, because ratings don't matter* then unless you have kids. So, you're obviously a teen/youth who's parents follow the ESRB ratings religeously. My parents did the same thing. I am just now old enough to purchase M-rated games without my parents being present. It's quite liberating. Towards this point, my parents lightened up a little on what games they approved; I was able to play some M-rated games like COD and Oblivion. They're rated for a reason, and like the guy above said, the ESRB is very loose compared to other countries rating systems. The ESRB ratings are there to help parents protect their kids from words. facts, and imagry that might bring harm to the child. And, as much as middle schoolers learn these days (not impying that you're in middle school), I'm sure there are some violent death methods, profanities, and sex euphanisms that you don't know about. (Heck, I just learned a new one at work the other day!)
I'm old enough to purchased M-rated games, so don't care about it. On the other hand, back in my day we didn't have a rating system. I remember walking into the video rental store( YES, I have to either walk or have my mom drive me down to the video store to rent a game. We didn't have gamefly)and renting any game I want. Same with movies. I think they got stricker when durning the xbox, gamecube, and ps2 era towards the end.
I buy M rated games all the timeelmerfud43
Then why are you complaining? If you're of age, the rating system shouldn't mean anything to you in terms of accessibility.
ESRB is good at rating games for the most part... the reason I say "for the most part" is because Halo is the most tame M rated game I've ever seen. There's like almost no blood or swearing... IDK It really is more like a moderate T than an M. But I agree with the rating system. It sucks if your parents don't let you play M rated games (My first one was in like sixth grade) but the reason the system is there is the same as movies. Some parents don't want their kids to see or be exposed to certain things like violence or swearing and that is the parent's choice. My parents (mostly my dad since he plays games albeit infrequently while my mom doesn't) felt I was mature enough to handle some M rated games and I turned out fine. But if your parents want to wait til you're seventeen that's their choice and you have to follow it. ESRB is a good thing, I feel, just like with movie ratings.
ESRB SUCKS!!. Especially at rating 360 games. Don't they. Agree or disagree?elmerfud43

39 in stockThere is nothing wrong with the ESRB, they just rate games in an attempt to prevent kids from playing them. Either you are a kid that is just complaining because his mom wont buy him a game or they need to make a new rating to prevent adults like you from playing them because you obviously aren't right in the head. Quit whining on a forum about something that is both useless and false and go do something productive with your time.
ESRB is a good thing, as it helps people to decide what type of games they want to play (some adults may not want to play M rated games), and it helps (some) parents make informed decisions about which games to buy for their kids.
For instance, kids under 17 have no business playing M-rated games. Unfortunately, however, several parents I've seen are unfazed. Sometimes, in Gamestop, I'll hear an associate tell a parent that the game is rated M for blood, violence, drugs, sex, etc., and the parent will shrug it off and buy it for their underage kid anyway. Perhaps parents either don't care what their kid plays or aren't informed about what's in games.
ESRB SUCKS!!. Especially at rating 360 games. Don't they. Agree or disagree?elmerfud43The ESRB is doing a great job if it's letting immature kids not play games. It's just a shame that some kids do get to jump online and spend the entire match swearing and screaming for no reason instead of playing the game. For every youth that can't get the game and ruin our fun I say kudos to ESRB!
Honestly I have to dissagree with you. I do think that they are generous enough to not ban something that should be banned. You more than likely hate esrb because you are not an adult ye and you cannot play games that are too mature for your age
