I agree. If you liked Half-Life 2, get this one.
As for the features that make it really great, I personally think the overall atmosphere and deep story behind the world is what brought me back again and again. You want to see this story through, and if you don't MIND shooters, then you have plenty of options. This is, as promoted, a thinking-man's shooter. You won't be blowing through everything mindlessly, and there is a ton of strategy involved, from drawing enemies into traps to experimenting with different abilities and tactics.Bioshock gives you so much room to be creative andso much story to delve into and enjoythat even if you absolutey loathed shooters, you would want to try this one out.
Plus, great reviews don't hurt either. Try it, and I'm sure you'll like it.
You can play with stealth in mind, creeping around with the wrench and fooling with the security but it's not exactly a stealth game.
It's mostly an FPS but there are elements of Survival Horror, Adventure and RPG mixed in there. If Half Life 2 was your kind of FPS you need Bioshock.
You hate first person shooters? Why did you get a 360, most of the games are FPS'sShade-Blade
I dont really hate FPS's, but lets say i do. Would i still enjoy BIOSHOCK???
I think FPS's are alright, but one i REALLY LOVED was Half-Life 2. Is this anything like that?
Could someone explain to the best of there abilites, what makes this game so much fun? thanksdodgerdawg
Bioshock is one of those rare games that comes along every 5 years of so that reminds us of how incredible videogames can be. Much like Half-Life 2. Or Metroid Prime (the first one, 5 years ago).
The game mechanics are definitely FPS, but it's much more than a simple shooter. It's an incredibly engrossing game that is far and above almost anything else out there in terms of atmosphere, storytelling, graphics, sound, and gameplay. Blending them all seamlessly together, sometimes you forget you're playing a game.
It's ******* incredible, trust me.
Bioshock is a great game. I was a bit skeptical of it when I played the demo. But once you get into the story it really hooks you in. The graphics and in-game audio help so much in making it a really good game. Plus being able to do a lot of different combos with the powers given and weapons.
I only rented it and beat it. I didnt try for the other endings or anything. So unless you are going for all the achievement points, I would rent it. Took me a week to play through and beat it with the 'bad' ending.

Exactly what the second guy said. I am not a big FPS fan myself, but I LOVED Bioshock. Great story with twists and extra "powers" beyond just run 'n' gun crap.
1 more question for u napk1ins. I'm also a HUGE splinter cell fan. My favorites games of all time. Is there any stealth, or hiding in the shadows, or anything like that involved in the game?dodgerdawgNot really in BioShock, no. Altough you do have to dodge some security cameras.
I'm like you. I don't like 90% percent of shooters. But I loved Bioshock. Get the demo. You'll want it after that. bdjansen
The demo is probably the best part of the game.
The actual shooting in Bioshock really isn't that fun so you might still like the game even if you don't like FPS games, also it's not hard so if you are bad at them that will also not be a problem.

Why does everyone always say Bioshock has good stoytelling? Having an interesting and borderline amazing story then portraying 95% of it through radio messages and audio diaries does not make it good storytelling. Its a good story told poorly.
