I hate 'sequels' that have nothing to do with the original game

Does anyone else besides me get bugged when developers name games GTA IV and the like even though they are not connected to the original game? I always get bugged by it and I never play any games that do that. You're looking at a poster right now that never played a final fantasy game because I don't want to play some cliche RPG that started it off. I never played oblivion either because I don't want to play the first, even though they are usually never connected to each other. Never played warcraft either. Same goes with Madden and most yearly sports games.

I guess I'm just suffering some strange mental disorder but I can't stand when the games have nothing in common with the original game besides the world or the developer who made the game. Give it another name for goddamns sake because I'm tired of having this feeling that I have to play the first couple of games before I play the newely released verison.

in reference to GTA.  The games are connected.  Maybe not through a story, but the are connected.  they take place in the same genre, gametype, made by the same company. It's like the same game but a newer version.   Thats like saying that you don't like Ms. Pacman because its not connected to pacman's story
