I was planning on getting cod4 tommorow but I was thinking maybe I should preorder gta4 instead. Im basically looking for a good multiplayer game to play(besides halo3). I cant afford both, what do you guys think I should do?? Just buy cod4 now and miss out on gta4 or buy gta4 and miss out on cod4??

Nobody can answer that for you :( CoD4 is THE multiplayer experience you are looking for, and GTA4 is an unknown, but what we do know of it, looks very very promising.
You gotta get both. Be hardcore like that other guy and start saving change to buy GTA4, you still have 3 weeks to scrounge some up.

You say that youre looking for a good multiplayer game to play, so get COD4. Ive read up on the GTAIV multiplayer modes and it doesnt sound too impressive. Why would you play Team Deathmatch on GTAIV instead of COD4? It doesnt make any sense.
Plus, it sounds like its kinda gonna be like the Saints Row multiplayer... meh. COD4 has great variety in its game modes, and I imagine all of your friends have it, which is great, cuz its really fun to play with your friends.
Id personally suggest GTA 4. GTA 4 has online freeroam and being creative and all,lets me and my other buddies come up with great ideas for free roam games. But if your a competitive person get CoD 4. CoD 4 has a solid campaign so long as you play on veteran while GTA 4 has so much you can look for and do in single player. Its really not our choice to decide for you but get whatever game that would suit your taste.
I dont get why people regard COD4 with such high praise. Yes it has a great multiplayer. But thats just about it. The single player is at best 5 hours long and after you play it once or twice you wont come back to it. The market is full of shooters. If COD4 is soo great then it should have life in it another year or so. Save your money now for GTA4. By far GTA hasnt let people down. They are going to use the same formula in all the other GTA's that people loved as well as make some nice enhancements. Im not too gung ho for GTA or COD4 but Im sure there is going to be more to do in GTA than there is in COD4.
i would say GTA IV that game looks to be very good...and you would play team deathmatch on gta because you can use helicopters cars boats to kill off the enemy...COD 4 has got to be my fav game at the moment but COD 4 is just the same thing over and over again...GTA is going have allot more variety in the game
Man, I gotta say it: Call of Duty 4 is THE go-to game for the best multiplayer support out there.. at least for the moment. With that said, I've been looking forward to GTA:IV the day I first read about it and with the promise of an epic single player as well as some new and fresh multiplayer content, I gotta say what I thought I'd never say: wait for GTA over Call of Duty 4. GTA never fails anyone while Call of Duty isn't exactly every man's FPS. But hey, it's up to you, right?
I don't think you'll be disappointed with either.If you must play a new game bad,i say just go for COD4.I'm sure you can save up for GTA4 by the time it hits the store.
Preorder GTA...Call of Duty 4 does have good multiplayer but the single player is just okay. Also you have Halo 3 which is a pretty good FPS multiplayer game. I think you should just wait cuz you will be disappointed when everybody on your friends list hops on GTA and is riding around on Motorcycles and killing pedestrians senselessly and your playing the same ol FPS...
Personally I prefer the GTA series, but you said you're looking for a good multiplayer experience and I really wouldn't expect much in that department from GTA, while COD4 has some great multiplayer.
I think as most people COD4 might be the best for multiplayer. I cant speak for GTA 4 yet but it seems like both have great replay value but overall the multiplayer on COD4 is great. So I say COD4
i think people in this thread are way overemphasizing cod4 too much.
It depends what type of game you want more, war or street battles/racing. Cod4 is a fun multiplayer game but it got boring to me pretty quickly. Especially when you only have a few friends to play with and you play against whole clans of little kids. Or even when playing alone many times there are little kids just talking little kid type junk.
If i couldnt afford either game until gta4 comes out id choose gta in a heartbeat. Cod4 is a fun singleplayer game but it is much shorter than gta will be.
I would say GTA:IV the multiplayer looks and sounds pretty damn promising with only four gametypes revealed so far. The SP for GTA will be 50+ hours, while CODs is about 6. The multiplayer for COD4 is very good, but is a bit overrated. GTA is GTA. GTA:IV is going to be GOTY probably and will deliver 100+ hours if the multiplayer goes along well with the great, lengthy campaign.

so just because a game is short means it's bad?....and i've beat it 3 or 4 times now....and will probably beat it again...so speak for yourself
