Yeah, last night as I was playing my 360 (mixing up some Guitar Hero II with some Shadowrun Beta) my 360 did something... it worked PERFECTLY and without any problems at all.  I know some of you must be shocked, but my 360 didn't break down, overheat or produce some crazy psychadelic display of red lights.

What makes this more amazing is that I have my 360 in a nice open spot in my entertainment center and the powerbrick is also in its own little spot so it can give off its heat without any problems.  Also, I had this really great idea to NOT move my 360 while playing a game, that means my disc didn't get scratched, can't believe that happened.

Really, I think we should all band together and let MS know that we have a great system here.  Sure some very unluckly people got stuck with duds, but most of us have been gaming in peaceful bliss since we got the 360.

Share your "my 360 works fine" stories, I definitely want to hear them!

Basically the same as yours, only I have played neither Guitar Hero II nor the Shadowrun Beta.  I have however, spent plenty of time on other games.  My console was manufactured Oct. 2005, and it still runs fine.  I did scratch one disc early on, before I knew you're not supposed to move it, but that game still works, so I guess it's all good.  It was PDZ, which many would claim wouldn't be a big loss anyway.

I agree that the 360 is a great system, but there is a pretty fair percentage of defective ones. I'm on my 2nd one but I have confidence that this one will last me. I hate seeing people claim certain games are console killers, because I have played those same games on my console and nothing. My 1st system died while playing Oblivion, but that doesn't mean Oblivion bricks systems.

I'm on my 3rd 360 here.  The good news is, I don't create a thread & whine when it breaks down like other people always seem to do.  But there are issues with the reliability of the system that cannot be denied.  Glad you're all having good luck though.

the problem is many 360 users (console gamers in general) are not used to that much power.. Just like a high-end gaming PC, it needs PLENTY of room to breath.  When I mean plenty, I mean WIDE open space.  No more of stuffing the console on a cluttered shelf.. This is not the original XBOX or even the PS2.. This is a graphical powerhouse and should be treated as such.  I also know of many cases where the 360 is indeed out in the open but for some reason, the power brick with all it's vents gets forgotten and shoved behind the TV shelving.

Then we have crying "Why is my 360 broke?!?!? M$ SUX!! "

I just want to know how many broken 360s are the result of people plugging the 360 into a power strip as opposed to a good surge protector.  I was careful about this and bought a 65 dollar surge protector from Monster.  The 360 definitely needs nice clean power and protection from surges.

Really?  I have almost the same setup as you but it keeps freezing.  The only difference is that I throw rocks at it every time I get a kill in any game.  Of course, because of that I have to keep it covered in a blanket for protection and to keep the blanket down, I have to keep the power brick on top of it.  Despite that, it is still room temperature since I keep my house at a constant healthy 110 degrees.  I mean everything with my setup should be perfect so why does it not perform as good as yours?  I guess it must be defective.

First of all its not a graphical powerhouse, most of the time I can't tell the difference between it and my PS2. And second Mircosoft makes poor equipment. Just look at Vista. And for you people who have not had any problems with over heating, disc read errors. you are lying or very lucky. Because 86% of XBOX 360 owners have had at least one problem with their system. Mrs MS you make crappy cookies. I will be buying a PS3 very soon.RawhideSphinx

How can I be a fan boy when I own a Atari, GC, N64, Sega MS, Sega G, GBA, DS, XBOX 360, PS, PS2, and I will be buying a XBOX because the 360's compatibility sucks.

My 360 is rotting currently. Waiting for Halo 3. ;D That or I go waste tons of money on Guitar Hero 2, but its pointless because I have it on ps2.

Ah well.

I own an original launch X360. My X360 works almost perfect. The reseaon why I say almost perfect is cause when I launch the console it sometimes gets an error. Other than that, it works fine. I even took the precautionary measure of buying a cooling fan. I have gamed on my X360 for 12 hour sessions and had no trouble at all. None of my discs have scratched and I have it laid flat as opposed to having it prompted vertically. Also, my X360 is in a well ventilated area where I don't have to move the console around (why would anyone move the console around in the first place?). So, to those who have had bricked systems due to the fact that they moved the console around, laid it vertically on the carpet, or just generally treat it as something other than a delicate piece of hardware, what is wrong with you?

And the same goes for the PS3 and Wii.

I'm tired of the numerous "my 360 is broken" threads as well, but I'm growing even more tired of threads like this. Sure, many peoples' consoles break because they are stupid and don't take care of it properly. But alot of people genuinely took care of their systems and they still broke down. I treated mine like a baby and it stopped working for no reason, so its not always the user's fault. These things break at a higher than normal rate for electronics, they just won't ever admit it. I absolutely love my console, but I can definitely admit that. I know at least 5 people who are on a second or third xbox, so its definitely real.

Mine works perfect. Sucks for the people that go defective 360's, but for the most part, if you are smart and responsible, you shouldn't have any problems.

My 360 has had numerous disc read errors so I am not putting it down as a perfect console but for the most part it works fine.

Although, nearly all of my problems come from certain games (Saints Row in particular) so maybe it is more to do with the game than the system.

I have been very disapointed with mine.  It doesn't overheat.  But I have gotten disc read error on every game.  at least 50 times on GOW.  It sucks when you have to do a level over again.  It seems to me that the console cannot handle games like Oblivion and Gears of War.

Thats why it is called 360 because you have to constantly start where you began, like a circle.

Uhhh no.  To try and stop any lawsuits that were in the works.  How is that a competitive edge when all they did was match the warranty of the other 2 consoles....  Oh and to the OP, arent you a little bit too old to be making a silly thread like this?  I would expect something like this from a 15 year old.  The fact that people make threads saying their 360 actually works shows how horrible the reliability really is.  You dont see threads like this in the other forums.  Why?  Because its the norm for them.  99% of people who own the other consoles have working units.  They dont have to whine like people do on this forum cuz their s*** works.  Working is suppose to be the norm not the exception when you put out $400.  I know you thought you were being so witty and clever but you just ending up proving the point.....

My 360 works just fine. The only time I had red lights (twice) was due to the power connection not being tight enough - not MS fault. Mine works great and runs every game I played just fine. 8)

Lets look at the facts.  MS released a statement about there disc drives being faulty and scratching games.  They also gave everyone free 1 year warranties.  Over a million 360 have gotten the red lights of death.  Millions are on ther 2nd and 3rd XBOX 360.  And one poor guy is on his fifth.

I don't remember saying Microsoft means quality.  What I remember saying is that my 360 has worked fine for over a year.

The problem that I have with your logic is this: you claim the 360 is bad because the CGI sequences in FFXII are better than any game except Gears of War.  That doesn't prove anything, and you obviously know that, because you're changing the subject.

Clearly the Xbox 360 is the best system out there but there are the issues still. But if people paid $25 a year for extended warrenty people wouldn't complain about the $140 repair fee. MS Support always fixes your 360 so there isn't nothing to worry about. I am on my 4th 360 but I still love MS and the 360. The only problem I had was my own fault. I had my sterero to loud playing Gears of War and it caused my 360 to scratch the disk due to the vibrations (a speaker was next to the 360). Anybody have problems with your 360? Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX.

Done all of the above, yet i am on my second 360, and it scratched the hell out of my EDF 2017 disc for no reason and freezes....so no story here.

a game is only as good as it's programmer.. But to compare the harware graphic capabilities to the PS2 is absurd.

Actually critiques do it all the time.

First, its critics.  Second, that doesn't make it ANY less absurd.  Third, they are critics and critics suck, so anything they do is absurd.

Anyway, the 360 totally owns now as a new spectacular BC list has been released.  PHANTOM DUST!! WOOOT.

Your right Microsoft means quality.........You Got Learned.

Well, look at it this way: at least they have enough integrity to admit the flaws with their systems and take care of the people who are affected by them. Sony didn't admit there was a problem with their PS2 until they were forced to via lawsuit. (not passing judgement on or comparing the two companies, I'm just making a point.)

I know at least 5 people who are on a second or third xbox, so its definitely real.lockjaw333
i hope you never have children, if you do, do not cover them with a plastic bag and put a power brick on them for 39 hours straight

the problem is many 360 users (console gamers in general) are not used to that much power..

M$ SUX!! "

ArmoJan

What about mine which was on an open desk twice, did that need more room to breath..........And about the power supply, you do realise that the 360 has a built in surge prtector dont you, and that when you get a surge or decreae in power the machine will just shut off and display 3 flashing red lights, then you just restart and presto, it works. I hate getting blamed for a companys faulty machine.
