I knew Vegas was glitched, but I didn't see this coming...

My Xbox thinks the game is a DVD. Just New Vegas, no other games. And as far as I can see the disc is unscratched...

I don't mind a few rolling heads or the occasional crash, but to never start the game to begin with...

Done ten times. I even wiped it with a silk screen-cleaning cloth.

You should go return it for all your money back and a free game. Tell them what crap you won't take!

It's the disc itself. I had the same issue with my NHL10, took it back and got another and it was fine. Possibly a bad write to the disc when it was created? Oh back to Fallout New Vegas, yeah my game was so crash prone I turned it into a coaster.

its a bad burn. i know people that have the game and love it. the patch works. if your disc doesnt read, exchange it at the store where you bought it. that simple.

wow im not a doctor but you should get your system checked out. When oXM tranfered over to 360 i remember alot of there first demo discs had problems if you boil water and put your disc in then remove it i think after 30 secs and let it dry they worked. might as well try it before you return it.

I would think that you have a system problem instead of a game problem. Definitely try some other games and see if they have the same problem thought. Because the same thing happened to my buddies Xbox 360 and it was definitely the system that caused it.

That's not an issue specific to Vegas. Check if the disc surface is damaged, if the tray's clean -- sometimes just ejecting the tray and closing it again will make the console identify the game. If not, get a clean piece of toilet-paper (or that nifty paper you use to clean LCD screens that I don't remember the name of, now) and gently swipe the back of the disc. Anytime I had that problem doing this solved it.

I had that problem once ( with Viking Battle of Asgard of all things)... it's the disc.

Simply return it for another copy. It should work fine.

If you don't want to return it, you could try boiling it in water. If you decide to boil it, please make a video and put it on youtube for us. It's an acid on the disc, it happens to the demo disc from OXM almost every other issue.

This is an XBOX issue not Fallout New Vegas. The game has issues but please refrain yourself to blame everything wrong with your machine on the game. It is by far the best game this year, and a truly great experience. "You cant make an omelette without beaking some eggs right.."

Maybe it's the PAL/NTSC version and your console is NTSC/PAL.

It doesn't do it often at all. It's just that my 360 has done to every game I have once or twice.
