Hi, my name is Wes I am new to this forum. One of the reasons I joined is I have a very important question......

My Xbox 360 is now, to me, an official piece of crap; however, if I can fix it, that would be amazing.

The Problem:

I turn on my Xbox and I get either a screen tinted green, or just a fuzzy black one with white dots or lines going across it.

Solutions I have Tried:

I have tried a new AV cable, HDTV cable, a different TV, everything leads to the Xbox itself.

Microsofts Standpoint:

First of all, anyone who has ever called Mircosoft knows you will automatically get someone who doesn't speak english! I was told that if I want to get my Xbox fixed i would need to renew my warranty which only ran out a couple of weeks ago.

The Question:

Am I getting screwed on this deal, or is their another option?

You lie and say you got the RROD(red ring of death) or you leave your 360 on for a long time and let it fry itself. There's a 3 year warrenty for the 3 red lights.

And welcome to Gamespot man.

I had the same problem, and sent mine off to Microsoft. It ended up costing me about $100 and 2 1/2 weeks of boredom, but I haven't had any problems since. They also renewed mywarrantyand gave me a free month of a Gold Membership to xbox-live...ya, I know...wow a whole month...but its better than a kick in the nuts.

Welcome to Gamestop.

Now, you have 2 ways you can get this to work.

1) Pay for the repair

2) Make your 360 get the RRoD

Wait for an especially hot day, put a box on it, turn on the heater, and leave it running. Take a cold bath while you wait. Check every hour to see if it got 3 RROD. When that happens, free replacement from MS.

Thanks man, that sucks but it looks like the only option.

Thanks for all the other replies, but I have already had the red rings twice, I hate Microsoft!!!

If anyone else has anything more to add I would be more than happy to hear it......

Just kick up a stink and ask to speak to a supervisor. Explain that you've had two 360s RRoD on you and that your current 360 is only just out of warranty. As an act of goodwill they will probably just repair it free, and they know you'll just make sure it gets the RRoD and they'll end up fixing it anyway.
