You can't put a HDMI Port in a non-HDMI xbox, so you'll need a new Xbox. Check your local dealers if they do any trade ins, or just get a cheap Xbox Arcade and re-use your existing Hard drive.

Component should be good enough but if you really want HDMI, you'll need a new console.

You do know there are 3 ways to get HD resolutions on your 360 and currently you can support 2 of them. Just use component and if for some reason that doesn't work then buy a VGA cable.

HDMI will not make that much of a difference.

I have a TV with HDMI and 360 with HDMI, but use component. Mainly because my PS3 is using the HDMI port on my TV. I highly doubt that many people can tell the difference between HDMI and component.

what res are you running ur games at? becaus ehte difference between componant and hdmi and really 1080i and 1080p is only noticable on tvs larger than 60 inches.

There is a madcats device that outputs from the old 360's out to hdmi for $60.

No where is gonna give you a straight up trade, you could go somewhere trade it in, get store credit and pay the difference which will prolly be like $200.

I think mad catz made an adapter, but I heard there were problems with the sound. But since MS integrated the optical into the component cable, i do see how it can work. But anyway, just stick with your component for now. The difference is not groundbreaking. Even at the best buy where i work, we has the same tv hooked up to blu-ray one with dynex component, and the other with moster ultra 1000 120hz hdmi cables and the difference was not too bad considering the crappy component cables used. And the HDMI TV was calibrated to top it off, and the difference is still not groundbreaking. Component is capable of 1080p too.

You are correct that one is available - not sure about the audio thing.

To the original poster:

If you absolutely need or want HDMI - Mad Catz now has a conversion kit so that you do not need to buy a new console. Here is the link to Mad Catz site but you can probably find it cheaper elsewhere on the net:

Why? Component works great. I have tested both and didn't see any difference. If I had two tvs side by side and compared them I might see something - but without side by side comparisons you don't notice any difference. I have a 67" screen, so if there was a difference to be noticed, I would have seen it.

HDMI, looks no better than COMPONENT VIDEO. it's all about your TV. If you have a solid HDTV, you will good a great picture with component or hdmi. I know this because I have and elite and a premium launch unit, the look the same on my 46" sharp aquous 1080p. with 120hz processing.

Completely agree. You are only using a 32" TV, you will notice NO difference with HDMI unless you are running bad component cables over 50ft long. I play on a 120" projection HD screen and run cables that are 30ft long to it. Even at that size screen and cable length, the difference was minor (there was some degradation of the analog signal that I could see, but only because it was so large). I eventually bought an Arcade and swapped the hard drive on to it. The ONLY reason I did this was because my system revolves around a 4x2 HDMI switch box and the 360 was the only device which didn't run through it and therefore required me to constantly change cables.

Thanks to everyone for putting their time into researching that mad catz thing, from what im reading i shouldnt go for the hdmi cable,im guessing i just got over hyped about hdmi cause i went back from my 9600 gt nvid graphics card to the 360 and thought that the hdmi cable on my graphics card was doing the difference(i know it makes no sense, but if you want something you can make up data about it :P )
