Erm... wow.

Well, I don't really know how to inflict the RROD on a 360. Sounds kind of cruel to me. :P I suppose you could keep your 360 running for a long period of time (though this may cause a fuse to blow and a possible fire so I do not reccomend this.) You could wrap it in hot towels for a long time. However, I am pretty sure that after your warranty expires MS will not fix it at all, RROD or not. I've been wrong before, though.

step 1: unplug 360 from tv step 2: remove your hard drive step 3: wrap 360 in a towel/ blanket (to cover up air vents) step 4: turn system on step 5: watch and wait (should take less then 30 minutes) WARNING: watch the system to make sure it doesn't catch on fire!!!

It doesn't matter at this point. If your warranty is expire they wont fix it, even if it has the RROD.

Yep... 3 years. I'm not 100% sure on this, but you could try putting a DVD in the drive and just let it run. Unlike games DVD's will always spin and read...that should wear the laser out quickly.

EDIT: BTW, this theory is based on the fact my brother started using his 360 to play DVD's after his player burnt out. He has a nasty habit of falling asleep while watching DVD's and the menu will still be running in the morning... Annoyingly at high volume. But yeahhh, his 360 got RROD pretty quick after his player died...

RROD has a 3 year warranty so you should be ok with that.

I had the exact same probelm as you in Febuary so I finally just called them and said it had the RROD and they sent me a box and I got a new one back about 3 weeks later, I got it on March 8 and the manufacture date on the system theysent me is March 1, 2008. That was for a launch console that didnt really have the red rings, its just the disc drive wouldnt open.

that mite work but he cant open his dvd tray : p I think the towel trick will work and if it doesn't do it right away he should just leave it on at night (without using a towel/sheet)

Do you think they even check the console? Both my cousin and brother have had RROD and both just got new units... They probably only check to see if the drive is white or chrome....... might not even do that.

Maybe just leave in on in a not-so-well venterlated area On its side in a TV stand and cover up the from so the air can't escape. It'll heat up pretty quick.

. BTW, when you tried fixing the drive did you take it appart at all? If you did the sticker will tell them that and they won't fix jack. RROD or not...

no problem but really all you can do is over heat it without making it look like you tried to over heat it (so no flame throwers)

Well there goes my suggestion lol

but yeah most ican think of would be the towel trick, I also heard that if u put a towel in the icrowave first it overheats the system faster.

In case thats unclear spartanjohn does NOT mean putting the 360 in a microwave : ) and I would worry about a hot towel causing damage to the casing

No that would probably set the 360 on fire i mean just the towel then wrap it and do the towel trick.

My brother has a problem similar to yours. When there isn't a game in the disc tray, it's almost impossible to open. When there is a game in the tray however, there is no problem whatsoever.

sure do that. Keep track of how many hours it takes for it to RROD and post about it once it happens (it could help other 360 owners)
