This morning i was playing Mass Effect. A hour later, the disc was scratched by the 360. I then put in Assassins Creed, i played it for about 2 hours it went perfectly fine. I went back to the store and got another copy of Mass Effect and COD 4. I'm scared to put them in. But why didn't Assassins Creed disc get scratched? was it just the Mas Effect disc? What should i do?

Was the console moved/nudged while playing? movement of the console while playing a game will scratch a disk.

scratching of the disc meant its either gotten bumped during play or.....well its a precursor to the RROD, or other problems. just be prepared.

My 360 is laying on a sturdy place. I don't think it got bumped, it's lying horizontal by the way.

im not sure if this is true, but it seems like the general consensus around here is the console is better off vertical, correct me if i'm wrong.

i'll correct you...its the other way arround.....whether its true or not, most people think verticle will actually scratch discs....there have been countless polls about this and the majority of people trust horizontal

I agree. Horizontal position is better, just like generic DVD players.

if the disc has a circular ring around it on the back, it means the xbox got bumped or nudged while playing, or the disc just got out of place and scratched. no big deal.

ps this happened to my brand new rock band disc...(sad face)

Yeah,a guy at gamestophad his 360 verticle and it totally shredded his disc. He's never had it verticle since, lol.
