I find the fact that i have to log in (so the company knows the time im in and that its me etc.) quite irritating. Its honestly on the level of DRM which i highly disagree with and find it a blatent disregard for privacy.

I noticed this oblivion, ninja gaiden 2, cod 4, and even a backwards compatibility patch. It honestly sickens me that i have to be recorded just to use the stuff i pay for. Not to mention the major inconvenience of not having the internet for a time period. Granted the net is in almost every home now a days and its a standard among our public enterprise, I still believe once we download the stuff it should be used freely as we would like to use it. Not have to be watched over that we are playing with it. Thankfully the videos etc are not subject to this. But game content obviously is. The measures these corporations take against attempts on piracy go too far at times.

Your rant is a little confusing.  It sounds like your downloaded content will only work if you're connected to Live.  It should work if you aren't connected.  Did you have a console that's different than the one you originally purchased the content on?  If that's the case then you can go to xbox.com and use the license transfer tool.  Then you just have to redownload the content.  I hope that helps.

that's just how it is..and if u play a game with d/l content on it and ur not signed in, it totally screws up your game save... Take Oblivion for example; I have all the expansions and one time I didn't sign in before I saved, I found that all my stuff that I had stored in my wizard's castle and all the other d/l expansion houses was gone... so, yeah it stinks.. but M$ knows about the problem but they have still not done anything about it.. there was a write up in gameinformer or one of the mags about it..

I don't really see a problem there. It is only that your save files are obviously linked to your gamertag. You don't have to be connected to Xbox Live to play downloaded content.

You could just use the "Auto Sign In" feature also. It's freakin logical that your game saves are linked to your gamertag... if anyone could load and save on your save files (without being signed into your gamertag) then you'd be here complaining someone saved over your files... and you definately DO NOT need to be online to play downloaded content.

I have been unable to get my Oblivion DLC to work if I'm not connected. If I'm not connected, and I try to load a savegame, it says something to the effect of "This save requires content that is no longer installed. Loading it may screw everything up." I never actually loaded the game, 'cause I was afraid it would screw everything up.

I couldn't give a damn about the privacy issues, but it is annoying that I can't play Oblivion unless I'm connected.

This normally only occurs if the downloaded content is associated with a different console (or HDD). After I exchanged my old Core system for an Elite version I had to use the license transfer tool as well. After that all content is accessible offline as well.

^^This^^ It only happens if you downloaded the content on a different console. The DRM is connected to both the console ID and the gamertag you used to buy the content. If you have a new console then head over to www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/drm/ (UK version but every country has there own version) and start the license transfer. It's very staight forward and only takes a few minutes, depending on how much content you have downloaded. Once completed you wont need to be signed in to Live to use the content

Not the gamertag itself. But rather having to have the internet to access the content you paid for. For most its no problem, because most have the internet constantly. I went like 6 months without it, so accessing alot of my content was not an option. Which sickened me because its ON my hard drive but because the company cant see that its my tag, its not an option to use it.

The gamertag itself doesnt bother me. Its when i have to connect to the net just to access it that i find annoying.

If you own the content (i.e. purchased it with points) then you do not have to be connected to the internet at all to use it. The only time you do is if you have transfered the content to another console, and if this is the case all you have to do is transfer the license to the new console. Once this is done you wont have to be connected to live anymore to use it. I provided the web address in my previous post

As was already stated, go to xbox.com and use the license transfer tool. Obviously what happened was you got a refurbed xbox back when you got RROD or something, and now you can only play arcade games when logged into xbox live right?

Transfer the license to the new console you have, and yes its a bit of a pain, but re-download all your stuff....then you can play them offline without logging in.
