I think the 360 I bought was modded.

I purchased a used but good conditionJasper 360 from Kijiji 6 months ago and just yesterday I received a ban message while playing my LEGIT copy of MW2. (for the record all of my games are legit.)

I have put in a call and sent an e-mail to the seller to see if he modded the Xbox before selling it to me but I have not heard back. I have also called Microsoft to ask for an exact explaination for the ban but they are very vague about it merely stating that I have broken the Terms of Agreement and no futher explaination will be provided.

Is their anyway I can prove to Microsoft that I have only played legitimate retail store bought games? I would rather not have to buy a new console but I am getting the feeling that I am out of luck.

Guess this is what I get for buying a used 360.

What would you guys do?

I removed the faceplate. The sticker is there but it does look like it has been removed and maybe put back on.

As cruel as it may sound, this is, in a way your own fault. Never buy used consoles, if you must, always remove the faceplate and inspect the warranty sticker first. Most of the times when people sell their consoles something's almost always wrong with it. Don't waste your time with M$'s crappy support, it will only piss you off more.

I've advised people against buying used systems for online use so many times because this happens.

Guess you better buy a new system...

lol yes, dont buy used consoles, instead go out and pay "M$'" (as you just said) 350 instead of buying a used console.... makes perfect sense dont it?

Wrong, wrong and wrong. People should be allowed to buy a used console and a seller should always divulge full details of the console, whether it may be modded or not. In this case, the seller is an arse, the buyer has been duped and nobody should be at fault for being done over just because 'used consoles have something wrong with them'.

learn by this mistake, buy a new console for online gaming and download some games for the modded one.that will soften the blow for you.im not saying that pirating is good or right before you all start wining and moaning, just stating facts and options.Good luck and thats correct about the seller being an arse,he should of given you the option to buy or not, that makes me think it may not be modded, just try a burnt disk and see for sure before any speculation.
