But apparently I was wrong. Last night, while streaming music from my Zune, the screen went green and I lost sound. I turned off the system for the night, and today I spent an hour or so playing Rock Band before it started giving me static checkered freezes. My original launch Xbox started doing this before it died, so I knew it was inevitable.

Now, with 3 weeks until I start back to school, I must face what remains without the comfort of my Xbox while she travels cross country to be revived. She had always been so reliable...

No doubt, I love my 360 and have never regretted owning the system, but my brother has a PS3 and it seems so much more well built... even the interface is smooth as butter, while the 360 guide chuggs to keep up with me. It makes me kind of envious. I can't wait for the Fall update. The new dashboard looks much quicker and slick.

Take a fan, and point it at the front of the 360. That should always help. Keep it ventilated.

When dealing with an Xbox 360, you have to remember that it isn't necessarily how long you've had it, but what the area around the 360 is like. And this only goes so far. One of my friends left his 360 on in a cold room on top of a refrigerator, but he kept it running for weeks at a time. Now it no longer works. Good luck with those three weeks though.

Go away. Seriously. Take this up at system wars if you want, but this is not the place to start an argument over it.

I have a Sept. 2007 Pro that works fine, although I do not play it constantly, the longest its ever been on was 16 hours or so while I slept so I didn't have to restart the endless setlist. I don't know if my case is a rarity, but I certainly hope I never have to return it. For bragging rights plus I don't like not having the option of playing it.

Good luck with that three weeks, my father had to replace his and it only took five days for it to be repaired and sent back to him, so maybe it will be sooner than expected you get your xbox back.

Thanks for the contribution, I would gladly take one and the first game i'd play would be MGS4. I am planning to play MGS2 on my original XBOX while I wait.

I keep it in my entertainment center, though the space it is in is very open and it sits on a hard surface. I have left it on for a dozen hours at a time on many occasions, but whether that is "good" for it or not, it wouldn't break if they would have just fixed this small problem in the first place. I payed a lot of money for their product, and its a good thing Microsoft has good customer service and an extended warranty.

That's very true. However, it still breaks from time to time - so you might as well take precautions. Microsoft is working on fixing it, but its a bit tricky to fix something like this.
