HD movies are HUGE. so to download one would take forever. Just an episode of Tv (like the First episode of knight rider) can be like over 2gigs. so theres no way you'll have ALL movies in HD. but maybe netflix will have some in HD, but i doubt it.

edit: and as i see it, the service wont be totally new, but it will be streaming from your que on the PC TO the 360. since they already have streaming to your PC (in addition to waiting for the DVDs in the mail)

Netflix is working on HD streaming for the future, but it won't be available for awhile.

And Fox.com or ABC.com is on a small computer screen that's why it can be HD streaming.

Well considering all the movies they offer through streaming are mostly garbage, i for one could care less if it was in HD. The only Netflix i watch on my PC is TV shows, and that'll probably be the only thing i watch on the 360. That being said, all the Blurays i get through Netflix have been great. The service is very fast, and the quailty of blueray movies as well as the library has been great.

HD is HD, regardless of the size of the screen, but I wouldn't be surprised if the "HD" that those sites are streaming in isn't really HD, but something like 540p like Gamespot's "HD" content.

I'm going to assume that they are going to use the same video streams that they already use on PC, so they are 720x480 DVD quality. I just hope that they compensate for 4:3 movies on a 16:9 display on the 360. Most streaming netflix movies come out stretched on a widescreen monitor/TV.

Netflix couldn't afford to waste money putting HD movies available for their streaming service.

With the 360 plus stand alone set top streaming devices on the market Netflix will have solid numbers to see how much they can dedicate to the service.

Anything over 480 vertical lines can technically be considered HD. A lot web sites take advantage of this. Also if you are not using HDMI you will not get 1080p no matter what you do.
