And to my surprize it worked. I was't gonna try it but I was really bored today, so I said "what the hell" it could't hurt. So far its been running for about 2.5 hours with no problem (I did't try to turn it off and back on yet). This is the second time I've gotten the RROD. I already called microsoft and I'm waiting for my box.gregbmil
Cool, I did the towell trick too, i sent my xbox back today.
That's pretty pathetic that you have to resort to using a towel on a system just so it will last only two more hours.pRIMEhUNTER1
You have one of those made up statistic things in your sig and you're saying being able to play for a couple more hours is pathetic?
dont do the towel trick all your doing is cooking your box people come up with the most stupid things

I having experience with tech. overheating knew what I needed to to I chucked my xbox in the freezer for about 15 min it worked a hole mouth be for it RROD again.I was able todo this for 3 months in till it started happening every 2 weeks.it slowly be came a Day to day thing so I sent it back and gota new one
can some1 please explain to me what even is the towel trick? adn why its used for?lman013
Its when you wrap a towel around your xbox and leave it on for an hour or so. This will cause it to overheat and reset everything. For some ppl it helps get rid of the RRoD. Search it on youtube

Yikes! I would recommend only doing it for 15-20 minutes. My 360 lasted forabout 2monthsdoing thisbefore I finally exchanged it, and I only had to do the trick every3 days or so.
Yeah, I only had it in the towel for about 20 min. After 20 min I opened it and it was still showing the same 3 lights. And it was't really all that hot, not nearly enough to start a fire a anything. Then I turned it off for about 10 min and now it works fine. Going on day number 2 now. About 7 hours of gameplay so far
I wrapped mine last night... 3 big big towels
and I could hear it turn itself off when it overheated
I waited 10 minutes and it fired right up
the trick is to get it very hot very quick
I am still sending it back whenever the box gets here
but still a cool trick when in need!
