I'm planning on getting a 360 this month, but I read that it's failure level is relatively high. Should I still get it? I don't want to play for a month then get the Red Ring of Death.

Yes, you should get it. As long as your carefull, andget a newer 360, you should be fine, especially with the three year warranty.

depends on your personal tastes. i find it totally unacceptable. and thus i only kept my 360 because its getting replaced for free for the next 3 years.

I have one of the first that came out, it is holding up, but I am leaving nothing to chance, I rarely play it for long periods of time, plus, I always have it properly cooled. Years of experience with PC construction and custom cooling solutions have helped me greatly.

It just depends. My friend has had a pro for almost 2 years and has kept his 360 on thick carpet for 1 year. It's been tipped over a few times, and was sometimes kept in an enclosed space while played. Everything still works fine on it. Lmao.

Yer its the best console by miles atm but I've had mine for 1 and half years and already,I had to replace it. It has the best games tho and online is superb. I have a PS3 with high reliability but there are barely any decent games for it and its much more expensive

I think you should decide based on which games you like to play, even if the console has a high rate of failiure. My first 360 died on me about 5 monthsago, I got a replacement (new one) and the warranthy was relenghtend and1 month of free xboxlive because my 360 was 2 weeks in transit.
It surely wasn't fun at all when my console broke done, but the service at Microsoft is quite good and will help you out in any way they can. And with the better cooling systems and newer chips inside hopefully the problems will be solved (at least a part of them ;) )

So if you like to play games like halo 3, ninja gaiden 2, mass effect, gears of war,... exclusives on the 360 you should certainly buy one because the gaming experience AND xbox live is awesome.

I would say the purchase of a 360 is almost mandatory at the current time. I have owned my 360 since launch and have had no issues what so ever. I also own a PS3 and Wii and the reason why I would suggest the 360 is this. It has by far and a way the greatest diversity of games and the best titles available at the moment backed up by the best network service. If your willing to wait till next year I would then say the PS3 is going to start to pull it's weight as sadly the software catalogue is lacking at the moment. The Wii is fantastic but also it lacks games that ave any real depth outside of a 15 - 30 min blast. If you are a serious gamer the 360 is the console to go for at the moment. Purchase a brand new one stay away from imported or traded consoles as you run a high risk of getting stung.
