My xbox 360 has been giving me a lot of crashes from day 1 (like once every 2 hours, even with brand new discs) so about 18 months later (yeah, I know) and even more problems (drive making REALLY strange noises) I thought I'd get it repaired.
Any advice you guys have on dealing with tech support, or something, would be useful. One quick question, I remember Bill Gates saying all 360s bought in 2005 would have free repairs or something? Does that still fly? Even if I have long lost the receipt? :p (They can tell by the machine's serial number, right?)

The first time I called to get mine repaired, they didnt ask for a receipt or anything. they simply asked me what the serial number was, the date of purchase, and where I purchased it. Then they took it from there.
Usually they try to do some lame troubleshooting to make sure if you have to send it in or not. Just bear with them, do whatever they say. But stress to them that this problem has been going on for quite some time and you are concerned. They might try to make you wait for the ring of death before sending it in. It all depends on whats going on with you console. Â
However you should call them because If your console is 18 months old you might not have a warranty anymore. I think its only good for one year. Im not sure about wheather or not they extended the warranty for consoles bought in 2005 indefinitely. I dont know...check it out. call the number the other people postedÂ
