I have one but I am not sure what they are. You should adjust it to your liking by using a few DVDs.

Well its really a personal preference but keep the brightness near default, sharpness can be default or a little above, Color you want so colors look natural, not too much not to little. and Contrast your want up, or a little below full.

its really to personal taste and if you are working with a flat panel or rear projection; not two tv's are alike. they all have little differences so the best advice i can give is if you own or can rent a disney pixar dvd like cars or any others, they have a thx optimization program that you can use to help calibrate the screen in forms of brightness, color and contrast. works well. or you can call up magnolia home theater inside the nes best buy and schedule a calibration for their tech to come out and do it the right way, but that will set you back 300$. just do the dvd thing unless you are a serious videophile!

I have a Samsung 26" Tube HDTV.  The factory settings are aout of whack for regular viewing but for DVD the Dunamic is pretty close. I have Sound and Vision's TV Home Theater set-up DVD and I use tha for setting up my TV.  It works really well.  That may be of some help to you.

Game mode does nothing but degrade the picture, which could be part of our problem. It's a gimmack

You may be able to download a calibration test image on the net and adjust your HDTV that way for an optimal picture.

Is it LCD or DLP?  I could give you mine when I get home but I'm one of the few that has it set-up to where DNIe actually stays on and I went into the actual service mode as well.

I have a 32" Samsung Tube HDTV and use that same calibration disc...works like a charm. I have to say that despite having two TVs that are far more expensive than the Samsung CRT, it still has the best overall picture that I've ever seen.

I was reading about that recently and I'm sure I came across the stting that needed to be changed but I have no idea what model TV it would be. It was labelled ''LBE Proc" and you had to set the value to 40H.

Start at this forum and be prepared to waste 20-30 minutes finding in-depth settings.  You'll quickly find a basic starting setting.  I used the starting setting and went from there adjusting for room lighting and personal preference.

yup you are totally right, the game mode is absolutely useless, all it does is lower the brightness yet they actually charge $200 extra for it!!

Don't use gamemode. Its useless, it alters the colors and some settings, but hardly offers a realistic picture. Its a gimmick. The only advantage you get with using gamemode is that it turns any extra video processing (for example DNIE)off, which can reduce video lag and whatnot. If you use the VGA cable, these are turned off by default, and gamemode is really unnecessary. As for your TV, I find that setting the picture settings to "normal" usually offers the best preset picture, but you really have to get a calibration DVD or the like to make any headway altering settings. I still don't think the colors are quite right on normal (a little too redish, a problem with samsung TV's). Anyone who has used the Avia Home Theater DVD or something like that, what did your final settings turn out to be? That might help everyone atleast find a starting point...

You want to keep your sharpness pretty low like around 35, your contrast should be around 80, brightness probably 70, and also if you can get into the service menu you'll want to reduce the reduce the red push, the artificial edge enhancement, and turn down the chromanace and luminance. You should go to AVS forums and look there for your tv that should tell you alot too.

Also, like Zeldacuz said, sharpness should really be turned down. Its an artificial edge enhancement, and can cause pixelation or halos around objects, especially text. Reduce it to zero, and if things look a little blurry, increase it until things like the edges of text are sharp again. I have mine set at 30, but it could be different for different models. Also, try CNET's HDTV world. http://www.cnet.com/4520-7874_1-5102926-1.html They have some decent tips on tuning your HDTV.
