In what way do you mean Call of Duty will "lose it's crown"? If you mean as the most played game on Live, thats debatable. Call of Duty has been the most played on particular weeks but as for a year a whole, thats yet to be the case. In 2004 and 5 Halo 2 was the most played game on Live. In 06 is was Gears of War. In 07, 08 and 09 it was Halo 3. Modern Warfare 2 will probably be the most played game this year though, so it'd technically be the first time Call of Duty ever had "the crown" for any particular year.
Black Ops will, without question, be the most played game on Live for some stretch of time simply for being the new Call of Duty. It'll remain to be seen if later when the new wears off if it can still beat Reach. But eventually another Call of Duty will be out to pull the rug from under Black Ops' feet and Reach will, like Halo 3 did before it, endure and keep a loyal fanbase. And history will likely repeat itself where Reach will remain the most played game on live until the next Halo.
Now, if it's in regard to sales then of course Call of Duty will remain the best selling shooter franchise. It's huge and on multiple platforms. Even if Black Ops remains largely the same the fans who bought World at War and Modern Warfare 2 have made it clear that they enjoy that core gameplay enough to buy it again and again. I doubt it'll sell as well as Modern Warfare 2 but I can pretty much guarantee you it'll still sell well over ten million units and thats no number any other shooter franchise can scoff at.
The quality will be debatable if it stays the same but I can promise you there will be millions that will be happy play it.
