If GoW never existed what would be the best 3rd Person Shooter this generation?

If Gears of War never existed, which third person shooter would be the "king" this generation in your oppinion? Dark Sector, Army of Two or others?

Resident Evil 5, even though I enjoyed Dark Sector quite a bit.

RE5 that was easy.

For any system: Uncharted

For 360: Fallout 3 if you consider it 3rd person, if not then RE5

RE5 flopped too hard, and i like the kind of gameplay Dead Space offered.

Gears of War isnt the king. Its a pretty bog standard shooter with awful character control, and even the graphics arent too impressive anymore

What's a bog shooter? And as to "the graphics aren't impressive anymore," you can say that about most any game that's more than a year or so old.

Every member of your team has an expertise in one of the following Medical, Weapons, Leadership, andComputers they can all fight pretty well. There was no overly complicatedinterfacesystem either simply walkup to the bomb, door, or computer andpressA until the device wasdisarmed, the door opened, or the computer was hacked.As the Leader you could do things like command the medic to heal a fallen comrade, set up an ambush, orprotect theweapons expert while he disarmed the bomb. To think that Lucas Arts couldgive ussuchwell executed third person shooter is pretty amazing I'm sad we haven't gotten a second one especially with The Clone Wars being such a big hit.

What about Vegas? Half the time it's third person. Does that count? I'm sure there are some nitpickers on this forum who have a strong opinion on this.

just because you like gears of war, doesnt mean its the best TPS this gen. there's a lot of other great ones that others can say are 'the best' as well.. such as RE5, deadspace, blood on the sand lmao.. etc.

It's funny how many votes that RE5 has as well as Dead Space. While these games were good they pale in comparison to Uncharted. Without question Uncharted would be the best TPS this generation if no GOW. Some would say that it is the best TPS even when compared to GOW.

Even with Gears of War existing I would much rather play Ghost Recon AW 1 and 2 or Resident Evil 5. Probably Dead Space too, I haven't played it yet. Can I say the Saints Row games and GTA 4? Would you consider those shooters. Even looking at last generation there are some third person games I would rather play than Gears like Resident Evil 4 and Ghost Recon 2.

I'm talking about the cover mechanic. The over-the-shoulder camera existed before RE4 if we're going to nitpick now......

I'm pretty certain you could find an over-the-shoulder camera in a game prior to Resident Evil 4, which was fairly recent.
