from a store, say like Wal-mart or Best Buy. Will I still need a credit card to access live after I purchase it?

I am going to get a 360 in a week and would LOVE to get xboxlive with it. Please let me know and also what do I need to connect to xbox live. I have cable internet access and the box I own has an open USB connection slot. Can I have live with just that?

Sorry for the questions. Any insights and opinions would be greatly helpful.

Thank you.

I suggest getting the Xbox Live card at NewEgg. They will have better prices, even with the shipping it is cheaper than at Best Buy et al.

Also, you should get a version that has a harddrive. It is really usefull for downloading demos, extra content for games such as extra maps, etc.

All this what people said, and,

When you create a new Xbox Live account, you get a month free of Xbox Live Gold. :D

why bother? You can just use a credit card, pay for it directly, and not have to deal with the sales tax

^ Some of us don't have credit cards, and some parents don't want to buy something like that or somthing over the internet.

No you won't need a CC at all if you have a Live card.

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure you still pay taxes when you buy stuff on the marketplace.
