if i got the red ring of death, would they send me a cosole with a falcon and HDMI? i live in canada so will they send me a new console? i have heard that rumor and want to know if its true.dreadedred19
I also live in Canada and am on my 4th 360. It kinda breaks down like this. I also heard that in Canada they send you a new console when yours breaks. 2 of my 3 replacements were new consoles. My 3rd replacement was either a refurb or handled badly. The case had orange scratches all over it.
My 4th 360
When my 3rd one broke, I was transfered to a special CS rep. Apparently, after 3 broken 360's they send you one with the Falcon chip (mine does), to make sure they can try to clear up the problem. Or so the Rep told me. All I know is I have the new chip and the console is about 5 X more quiet.
I have heard of people getting the HDMI port also, never more than that though. All I really know is that they supposedly send you the falcon if you've had multiple console failures.

Microsoft will replace the exact same style of console you have right now. They will not send you anything different from what you have. HOWEVER they replaced mine with the falcons, so you might get lucky and get those too.
another question, will my warranty refresh after the three years is up?dreadedred19
The CS rep told me they re up your warrenty when you get a new console. Although last time I checked the RRod warrenty was re uped, and the general repair one wasn't.
no, i wont intentionally get the RROD, but i am getting an HDTV soon and i want hdmi with it. when you say what type you get is just luck, do you mean if i sent in a pro they might send back an elite? by the way, where do you live? maybe that is only true in your area.dreadedred19
No, its true for everywhere. As someone already said, after you have multiple consoles fail MS will start trying to appease you by giving you a newer console or accessories (I've heard of people getting controllers, quick charge kits, 360 cameras, etc.). However, the batch your new console is from is up to pure luck. You could end up with a 2008 360 or you could end up with an October 2005 360. The only thing you can be sure of is that MS will ship you back the same model console that you sent in (meaning that if you ship them a pro console you'll get a pro back. if you ship an elite you'll get an elite back. I have heard of one exception to this and that was when someone was on these boards complaining about getting an xbox back after he sent in his 360 :P). Keep in mind though that you wont always get a new console. When I shipped mine to MS I got the same console back (at least I'm pretty sure its the same. I didn't really bother to look at the manufacturing date and serial number before I shipped it. I just noticed that it had two scruff marks on the HDD port which my original 360 had as well, and the manf. date is Oct. 2005 (bought my 360 in February 2006 so that matches up enough I guess. I'm pretty sure Oct. 2005 was the manf. date my 360 had before I sent it in, but if not then I'm proof that you can get an older console back)).

I know MS extends the warranty by one year after you get your console back but I've been wondering if that covers all hardware failures as well as the RROD if you get back a new console. I mean, since its new that means you should get a new warranty as well, and a good arguement could be made for any 360 that gets worked on by MS.
