How would this affect you? even in the slightest way would it affect you at all in terms of how much you play, how much you spend on games etc 3DSTICKMANAchievements are just little trophies and plus I think it'd affect me like if I had a gamer rep or so.8)
i think it would effect me, i like achievements because they give me a reason to play the game differently (sometimes) and experience most (if not all) of what the game has to offer. It increases replayability and helps me to appreciate games more than i would normallychaoscougar1This is what I would say. Some people have said that they play games longer cause of achievements, but I'd say what happens more (and what I enjoy about achievements) is that it makes you play the game differently or utilize more of what the game has to offer. And most of the time I find that really cool and end up discovering something I may not have without the achievements as an incentive.
My Xbox 360 is my most played console, then it's my Wii, and lastly it's my Playstation 3. If Microsoft were to get rid of achievements my Nintendo Wii would be my most played console, my Xbox would be second, and my Playstation3 would still be last. If the Nintendo Wii had achievements I would be on that the most, no doubt.PictureGameThe PS3 has achievements as well. They're called "Trophies." And contrary to popular belief, they are completely identical in all PS3 and 360 games, to the best of my knowledge. What's the difference?
would not bother me at all
i dont play for achievments
online gaming to have fun is what i strive for
it would actually stop me from playing campaign if there were no achievements
The entire system would collapse.
You young whippersnappers and your precious achievements n trophies! Back in MY day the only achievements we had were putting our initials in an arcade game. And if some young punk showed up to try to beat your scoreya broke his arms!
Don't care. I prefer trophies.

Whats the difference though? All you get on PS3 is the extra platinum once you've got the rest.
The entire system would collapse.

irony much? explain to me the difference between the achievement of getting a highscore and the achievements we have now...the only difference is, you dont break someones arm if they have the same achievement as you

It was the only achievement we had available. And the only way someone knew about it is if they got close to your score, beat your score, or during the random intervals where the game would spotlight high scores...or if you or someone else mentioned it to friends. High scores and 'flipping the game' were also used for measuring prowess in the early home games. Now you can compare/sync all kinds of achievements of course. And yes, some people defended their high scores fanatically. Idk if the whole ritual and custom is still there for the arcades we have today, such as placing a token on the arcade to show 'you got next' to play and/or challenge the current player.
To be fair, i think alot of people would do the whole 'boycott, fire, and pitchforks' routine but in the end they would keep buying the games. It would just go back to the way things were during the older systems' time (just back to Xbox/PS2).
Alot of replay value would be lost i think..however there would also be a certain sigh of relief since you wouldn't have to force yourself (for gamescore types) to play while trying to get some outlandish achievement "kill the main boss w/o being hurt yourself on Brutal mode in under 30 seconds." Ugh.... Not to mention not having to worry about getting MP achievements if you prefer single player mode but still like to get 100% achievements (like Two Worlds 2) or if the game is outdated and noone plays the MP anymore. Just my thoughts.
Achievement hunting can add up to 10-20 hours if their are really tough ones so I would lose those 10-20 more hours of being occupied by the game. Achievements are saving me money.

Haha, I agree here. Usually you play a game beat it and are done. With thoughtful achievements developers can keep us playing their titles even longer, just by trying to make us do something silly like "beat blah blah level without getting hit" or stuff like that. In general it seems to give us new ideas and challenges for the games we already play and love.
Its also nice to have the bragging rights for particularly difficult achievements.
I would be sad if they took away achievements because I've been doing goofy challenges like beating the Ocarina of Time: Master Quest with only 3 hearts for years now, but there's no achievements to prove it!!!
