If PS3 eventually should surpass 360 like wii did...

Im afraid to get a 360, because I keep hearing analysts predicting that when sony drops the price point for ps3 further, the sales for 360 will go down, and the console will die relatively soon, and the new xbox will come out soon.

so im almost afraid to jump aboard... like its too late, and im wondering how long they will make games for the 360, and for hwo long people will play on the machine, online.

As far as I can tell, analysts are predicting a longer life for XBox than PS3, even if it is only because of the current install-base.
As someone who has lots of gaming friends I can honestly say that the divide in which console we are each favouring goes more the the 360 side, mostly because of the price and accessibility. Plus, Halo 3 in a few weeks, WOOT!

Get whichever system you want; it doesn't matter which one is selling better. Even if the 360 is surpassed, it will be around for the rest of this generation. Also, analysts can be wrong. Some predicted that wii sales would shaply drop because "it was just a fad."Bubble_Man

Microsoft isn't stupid and if Ps3 DID drop another 100$ which is not going to happen for at least 6-12 months Microsoft will just drop the price another 50$. Everybody thinks that the console with the best hardware wins but which console currently has the better games? Wait until halo 3 and that's when you will see the xbox360 jump in sales. Also what makes you think ps3 is going to surpass the 360 even if it did drop another 100$??? Currently xbox360 is outselling ps3 and that's not going to change for a long time.

If gamers are going to get a one of the new consoles, it'll be before the PS3 starts using it's extra power to use, and by then it'll be too late because the majority of gamers will own a 360, and i doubt there'll be many who will buy both. The 360 is more user friendly when it comes to online play and way more exclusive games, so the PS3 will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to really persuade gamers.

Also, don't base your choice on whether it will be outsold or not, make the choice about which console has the games you prefer.

Listen first of all its very unlikely that PS3 will surpass 360, Second of all 360 wont die for a while. By your theory its like , Why buy a console if a newer version will come out in a couple of years. demon565

i was so close to buying a ps3 after i sold my nintendo wii and core. but then a guy on a wii forum put me straight and said

"360 has the better games end of story"

When you say ps3 will surpass 360 in sales, is the total sales to date ( I doubt thats what they analyst was saying ) or quarterly sales? Depending on which of those two it is makes a huge difference in your interpretation.

PS3 has a lot of ground to make up in total sales even with a price drop and some good games coming out. Another thing to consider which I do believe another poster mentioned, people will own both and play both.

I wouldnt make a decision on which console to buy based on current sales, base it on which games ou would like to play. The games community will be there long after the game of the week players have left it.

First off I own a 360, not a PS3. That said, the are but three things that will allow the PS3 to surpass the 360. First, the 360's abismal hardware failure rate. What good is a console, if it's in being repaired. Second, if Blu-Ray wins out as the Hidef format, Sony is sitting pretty with the PS3. And last, if they can only get a well organized, and consistant online formula for their games, the 360 is going to have a hard time. I didn't include the selection of games, because I feel this is only a matter of time, anyway. How many ****A games did 360 have in it's first year.....is that crickets I hear??Warchild

Cod2, DOA4, Oblivion, GRAW, Fightnight3, Deadrising, Saintsrow, SplintercellDA and a bunch more i forgot, every single one of those games are better than anything thats out on the ps3 right now

So a handful of games, some of which I would question as being next gen quality. Sony can more than make up for that. People are ready for a change. With the overpricing on marketplace, the faulty and unreliable hardware, MS is starting to lose it's fan base. I'm no fan of Sony, but frankly I don't like the stunts MS has been pulling lately. Forcing devs to charge for content the intended to be free, comes to mind. I just don't think the 360's hold on the top spot is all that secure.

Wow..I seriously doubt the PS3 will pass the 360 anytime soon..heck they may not get there numbers up there until maybe late 2008. Sony just got way too cocky and thought they could pass an expensive console on to the public to help support blu-ray etc. Now Sony's understands that the "Playstation" name won't always sell what you throw at consumers.

The bottom line is that the 360 has more games. The PS3 (which I also own) does not have but maybe 2 or 3 must own titles. That is why Warhawk is doing so well, it is the only worthwhile game to come out on the console in quite some time.

Also the fact that 360 games are running at twice the frame rate of the ps3 makes the 360 that much more appealing. I usually end up buying the 360 game over the PS3 game for this reason. That and Live which is soooooo much better than the PS3 online service.
