I don't know if this is old cause i have not heard anything about it in these forums but i went to the official splinter cell site and was looking through the forums there. One of the biggest controversies there is people are saying one of two things, that a)there is no versus or b) it hasn't been announced. If this game does not have V.S. i for one will not buy it. I'd only pick it up1 years from now for 10 bucks to make sure they get none of my cash. IDK about the co-op they are offering, its all about the V.S.!!

Please someone tell me i'm wrong and there be a versus

What's the point of having a versus mode?

I thought it's single player?

I'm just glad they're bringing back COOP. Chaos Theory was FAR superior to Double Agent.

I hope there isn't. I want Montreal to put all their time into the single player, and I don't trust another Ubisoft developer with the multiplayer.

nope ever since pandora tommorrow they have the V.S. CT was awsome as well. DA took a step backwards casue PT and CT was way better. Thats what i and a majority of other players think was best about the serise. If you go to the Splinter cell conviction site there is a HUGE thread with 90% wishing they would remake 2 vs 2 remakes of PT and CT vs mode. Those were the most intense 2 vs 2 action ever made. From the sounds of it, they are not even going to have a mulitplayer. If that happens, i have one less headach in Feburary on trying to get another game cause i WILL NOT buy that game with out it.

i agree the co-op in DA sucked!!! I would like to have the same style co-op as CT in convicition but that is not a selling point for me. Its the vs mode. I'll fell sorry for this franchise if they leave this out casue a lot of people will not only be pissed but will simply not buy the game.

I'm also concerning about the Conviction multiplayer too. I heard Chaos Theory had phenomenal 2v2 (Mercs vs Spies?) Versus multiplayer. I never played it but I heard A LOT about it, and it got me pumped. I'm not too sure whether Conviction even have multiplayer. From what I know that in E3, multiplayer was not announced. Conviction is designed by a new guy aside from the other Splinter Cell creators. Plus since its a new guy, he invented a new different gameplay in Conviction, one of them is called "Mark & Execute" which I highly doubt its gonna work in multiplayer. Conviction comes out in Feb, its 2 months away and if they haven't release any information on multiplayer, then I guess there is none...

However, I did found a Q&A from Splinter Cell official site forum:

Q. I am dying to know; when will we hear about the multiplayer details? We are currently developing a thrilling multiplayer component in Montréal. But all Multiplayer concepts and functionalities will be revealed later, with detailed information on game modes. Preparing events such as E3 requires a lot of work (preparing for an event is almost like developing a game in the game), and we need to stay focused. That's why we can't cover all game elements at once. However, we are already working to show you the multiplayer in the coming weeks.

Chaos Theory had one of the best co op experiences I have ever had, hope conviction can pull that off.

I don't think it's a necessity..but I enjoy Splinter Cell games as a single player experience more because the other modes just seem to be tacked on and not done very well. But I will say the multiplayer in the last Splinter Cell game wasn't too shabby! And conviction will be a beast of a game..I mean did you not see the footage?

Um, MP has been confirmed a while ago. There just isn't any info on how it is different or alike.

Hopefullly there will be cause a lot of people are complaining on the offical site say that there wont be. I hope when you understand what the muliplayer that you are talking about is not mistaken for the co-op. Eitherway, its extremly vague. I will be shocked if this game does not have a killer multiplayer with it, i simply will not buy it.

I really don't think that vs is necessary. I loved Splinter Cell CT, but its versus was atrocious. Glitchy as hell, major host advantage, turning as a Merc felt like pull your teeth out, grenades were broken....It was god awful.

-faceplam- Splinter Cell is about the single player, and always has been, and Convicition is looking to make sure that statement stays true.

thats crazy why would no v.s. be a epic fail! the splinter cell series is based on the single player experience and so far they all have been great! to say that they have been doing a game right for so long and now there not gonna change that experience so its gonna b a fail is dumb! like they say if its not broken then dont try to fix it. when splinter cell games get boring and repetitive then its time to try to stir things up and add stuff to it. and really i dont even think a vs mode would even b that great in a game like these. so id rather them concentrate on a great single player game...like they have been doing so far in the series...than i would rather them have to take away from the single player game and try and add a vs mode that will prob b lame anyway. anyway im not trying to hate on anyones opinions just trying to make u stop and think for a second. so in my opinion stay away fron vs mode and keep the coop

I wouldn't be particularly miffed if they don't include vs. mode. I'm most interested in the story and single-player. Conviction is going to be awesome, vs. mode or not.

There IS going to be a versus mode.

Check the uplay section in Assassins Creed 2. Under Splinter Cell -Conviction rewards, you will find multiplayer stuff.

Versus mode in Splinter Cell: Double Agent was awful. Versus mode just doesn't work for stealth-based games... :\

You know, games aren't all about versus gameplay, some games are best without it. Not every game needs multiplayer, just get over it.

yeah i know in DA it was awful but in PT and CT it was epic. ANd for all you guys that say the SC serise is all about SP are dead wrong. If you go to the offical SC site you;ll see that the most loyal fans are nearly demanding a remake of those two former vs mode. LMAO at those who say the SC serise is all about SP. The MP was the greatest thing about the serise until that crapfest DA came out

Agreed, honestly never even bothered with MP in the Splinter Cell games. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a one man super spy type to me.
