no better than 1080p, which it already supports if your tv does, just think of it as all of the component cables rolled into one input instead of 5 colored ones

HDMI provides a digital signal whereas the component cables provide an analog signal. Digital w/ 1080P is best. It depends if your HDTV accepts 1080P and/or 720P and of course a HDMI output. Digital w/ 1080P is a flicker free image because the human eye can't detect movement beyond 1080P.

Graphics wise it should look the same, except, digital w/ 1080P is easier on the eyes.

HDMI only changes the way it is outputted to a TV or Monitor, it will not change the graphical capability's of the hardware.

Lol, he's just being sarcasitc. A lot of people seem to think HDMI is a huge deal and changes the whole way you play the game. Honestly, there really isn't a big difference between HDMI and Component/VGA. If you can use it, go ahead, it is supposed to be the best, but don't expect the difference to be night and day. Hope that helps a bit.

It's digital, whereas VGA and component are analog. It's better, but whether or not it's $480 better is open to debate. I find that the colors pop more with a digital signal, maybe a somewhat crisper image.

From my own experiences, I see that HDMI cleans up the edges for a noticeably sharper picture than component. Some say component images come out more colorful but I don't know about that.

Yeah I'd like to know how that's the perfect answer since it has statements that are a) wrong, or b) strictly opinion

a) wrong:

Digital w/ 1080P is a flicker free image because the human eye can't detect movement beyond 1080P.

TALISMANJ

- This is simply wrong. 1080P is flicker free not because it is 1080P versus something like 720P, but rather because it is a progressive video feed rather than interlaced. Progressive feeds refresh the entire image each cycle, whereas interlaced feeds refresh every other line every cycle.

Digital w/ 1080P is easier on the eyes.

TALISMANJ

- A digital versus analog 1080P signal makes no demonstrable difference on the eyes in terms of comfort.

b) strictly opinion

Digital w/ 1080P is best.

TALISMANJ

- Many audio/video-philes will argue that componant video connection gives a better picture in 1080P (or any resolution) than a digital connection such as HDMI. Simply go to avsforums.com and do little reading to confirm this. They say that HDMI gives a harsher picture than componant, which gives a softer color palette. This is most pronounced on plasma screens. Personally, I can't tell the difference, but that's what video enthusiasts seem to claim.

No, they whouldn't do that. The HDMI doesn't change the graphics it just changes the resolution.

It doesn't change the resolution. The 360 already supports 1080P resolution through componant.
