man im getting really tired of people saying this. its a game, and its meant to be fun. people who play it just like having fun, we dont play it so we can become real musicians, just to have a good time like any other game we play. i hate it when people think theyre better than others because they play real instruments. i wish i could play the guitar,but then again i dont have the time to practice day in and day out to get good at it. i play rockband/guitar hero to listen to the music and have a good time.

People don't want to spend the time and money to play a real instrument, so they play the game. I play drums though, so I get the best of both worlds.

The same reason that people CoD4 instead of becoming a soldier, play Ace Combat 6 instead of becoming a Jet Fighter, or any other vidoe game for that matter...

It's a game that is fun, no one is suggesting it's like playing a real instrument... it's for FUN

musical skills are not acquired from playing guitar hero people saying oh you should join a real band if you play that game clearly dont understand its a game there misinformed. thats the equivalant to saying oh man your really good at cod4 you should be a marine its a game the skills do not transfer over. ive seen pro guitar players not be able to play guitar hero.

i still think having a fog machine is a little excessive though and most likely annoying.

i kinda agree people say they dont have the time to learn real guitar but if you put the same amount of time you put into playing and getting better at GH/rockband you would get good right away but i also agree that its up to you weather you want to do that or not most people do just play rockband for fun.

If you get a fogmachine for use while playing rockband though that is hitting the loser area if you ask me

IMO, although i appreciate people play RB for fun, but i think if your going to spend money on a smoke machine aswell as the guitars and drums and THEN spend multiple hours a day (for some people atleast) then maybe starting to play the real drums or guitar would be worth your while since it's obvious you have some interest in playing music in some way or form.

also i'm getting pretty tired when if your asked if you play a nstrment someone will come up and say "I PLAY ROCKBAND!"

Whether you play rock band or play in a real band, you are playing for fun. The chances of becoming a rock star while doing either one are about the same. So just enjoy it.

Yah but it takes 6 years to get decent at guitar, and about 6 weeks to get decent at GH. Plus, when you get good at guitar, if you want to play the song, you'll need a drummer, a singer and a bassist. Ill let real bands make the music, while i stick to having fun.JJpenguin

It does not take 6 years to become good at guitar, I know people that have played for only a year and are better then me at guitar and I have been playing for the last 6 years (almost). It all depends on how much your practice. So if you put down the plastic guitars and drums and pick up the real thing and use your time to practice instead of playing the game you'll get good in no time.

Also you don't need the rest of the band to play a song, I play just the guitar or bass lines to a song so I can play it there is no need for the drums unless your in a real band. And another thing people can sing and play an instrument at the same time its not very difficult.

well to tell you guys the truth i have been playing guitar for close to seven years and i played drums for two. and i friggin suck at guitar hero and rock band but i kick A$$ on real instruments. just something about pressing five buttons just screws me up

6 years? Wat... I takes an hour a day of practice for guitar for me just to be decent. My freinds played for a year, and they get pretty good. Honestly the only time i would play rock band is when my freinds are over or i have some party. Not for skill
